Taiwan star Mike He makes his Chinese period drama debut in the 2009 grand production Infernal Lover (a.k.a. Wu Jian You Ai). Set in Republican Era China during the Yuan Shikai administration, Infernal Lover revolves around four hot-blooded youth who come to play important roles in the political and social revolution of the time. Mike He plays double agent Feng Yi, who lives in the shadows to serve his country, bringing him into conflict with his childhood friend Yikui (Jin Dong), an upright, simple-minded nationalist. Mainland actresses Deng Jiajia and Zhao Ziqi co-star as two young women whose lives become tangled when one is mistaken to be the long-lost daughter of Yuan Shikai's right-hand man. Love, friendship, and the fate of the nation itself are at stake as these four young people cross paths and hearts during the danger, conspiracy, and upheaval of early 20th century China. Infernal Lover is co-directed by Taiwan hitmaker Lin He Long (Hot Shot, Why Why Love), and jointedly produced by actress Eva Huang and powerhouse producers Angie Chai (Meteor Garden) and Ma Zhongjun (Seven Swordsmen).
