YesAsia Editorial Description

The worldwide sensation anime Initial D can now be seen in English! The North American Initial D DVDs can be seen in two ways. One is the "Tricked Out" version, which adds fresh music tracks and English-dubbed dialogue to the series, and even re-edits the races to make them more "fast and furious". However, fans of the original manga and anime aren't left in the cold, as the discs also contain a "Classic" version, featuring the original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles, plus the famous Super Eurobeat dance tracks that made the original series so exciting to so many!

Based on the original manga by Shigeno Shuichi, Initial D is a fast-paced and entertaining anime about the racing god of Mt. Akina: Fujiwara Takumi. In his Toyota Trueno AE86, Takumi possesses the ability to drift around corners and down Mt. Akina at tremendous speeds. But Takumi is an accidental genius; his skills were earned from years of delivering tofu for his father Bunta. Takumi doesn't even understand cars at first, but soon he's beating even the most seasoned and experienced street racers! Once word gets out about Mt. Akina's new drift king, Takumi's life will never be the same...

¡@¡@Initial D tells the story of a 17-year-old tofu delivery boy named Tak who suddenly finds himself caught up in the heart-stopping world of street racing.

¡@¡@Tak drives an "Eight-Six," a street term for the Toyota Trueno AE86. When chance puts him up against street racing's most notorious driver and he actually wins the race, the lure is too much - he's hooked. Word quickly spreads about the famous "Eight-Six of Mount Akina", and more and more rival racers appear to challenge Tak and his friends in a series of white-knuckle contests.

Episode 40 - Beyond The Impact Blue
¡@¡@As usual Mako and Sayuki are racing on Mt. Usui. But Mako can't concentrate on her driving because of the break up with Iketani. They both learn from Shingo that a team made of Lancer Evolutions called Emperor is targeting Usui now, to conquer the Gunma area. Will Mako and Sayuki be able to defeat the Evolution team?

Episode 41 - Sentimental White
¡@¡@Mako and Sayuki are out snowboarding. There they meet up with Shingo who introduces the Night Kids' Miyahara to Mako. This was Sayuki's and Shingo's plan to get them together. Mako and Miyahara gradually become closer, but one day Miyahara tells Mako that he is going to quit racing and asks her to quit, too.

Inital D - The Best Racing Anime I've seen... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Its a racing anime, full stop. There are alot of references to real cars and equipments such as EVO III WITH a turbocharged engine which runs on nitrous etc. There are also racing terms but there arnt real teams. The main plot (in brief) focus' on a rising star who is also a college student, he gets introduced into a pro underground racing team ...Initial D. THe graphics are really good ,there are problems but i'll explain them later. The artwork is nicely drawn with good night and light effects. The characters are drawn well 98% of the time but you do sometimes get a dodgy looking face. Another feature that could work well but fell short was the use of 3D cars done by a PC instead of hand drawn designs , this does help make the car stand out but you can see when a car goes round the corner , it looks like they are floating in mid air.The sound effects and music are AWESOME because you will get a realistic sounding engine sound while a race is going on and there will be nice rock music in the background.
Finally the plot is easy to follow , lots of characters ,you will see quite alot of character development and this series probably is one of the best around that is realistic (car, sound effect wise) and covers alot of different race types (uphill racing, downhill racing, drift, etc)

FR RULES Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Takumi and his FR racing skills was up another notch when he raced a member of the Redsuns in the rain. Drift in the rain is so cool. And last but not least is his battle with Ryouske and the FC. Mininum countersteering and super drift skills that even Takumi did not know he was so good to race against the FC.
