This is not totally bad.

Okay, so it isn't a great movie. It isn't a Ben-Hur or Titanic, but... it has a good message, and everything was okay... it just didn't... I don't think that it fit well together. The acting was good, great including Billy Zane... but the Slate character over-acted a bit. The music and sound effects, yea, they sucked. It was kind of like the monotonous/singular sound effects and music in 'The Ninth Gate'. Great movie, but a slightly plodding pace and bad sound makes the movie seem like it is really horrible. Well, I disagree. This is not a terrible movie. It also isn't exactly an action movie. Yeah, there are parts that have action, but it is more like a moral/science-fiction/fantasy type of film. I think that if they would have made a few plot changes and better effects and sound that this movie would have been completely kick ass. But it doesn't. So if you consider watching it, you'll have to uncritic yourself a little and just go with the plot. Try not to pay attention to the effects over the story. This is why books are so great, because you have to pay attention to the story completely and you make up your own effects. I'm also a little biased in this criticism... Because I love Billy Zane. |
