첫 솔로 정규음반 "I am.."

M.C the Max의 히로인 이수는 영혼마저 사로잡을듯한 애수띤 가창으로 2002년 그룹의 리드보컬로서 모습을 드러낸이후 발라드계에 한 획을 그으며 가요계의 독보적인 존재임을 확고히 해왔다. 자칫 진부할 수 있는 사랑노래에 진심어린 영혼을 담아 시를 읽어내려가듯 구사하는 그의 독특한 창법은 듣는이로 하여금 더욱더 가슴 사무치게 만드는 페이소스의 극치를 자아낸다.남성보컬의 부담스런 무게감을 배제한 이수 특유의 부드러우면서도 넓은 음역의 호소력있는 곡해석은 이제 그룹의 메인보컬로서뿐 아니라 작품의 창작자로서도 빛을 발하고있다.

첫 솔로음반"I am…"은 히트메이커 프로듀서 김도훈 이 만든 타이틀곡 "삐에로"외에도 이수의 작품 5곡이 실려있어 이수의 작품집으로도 손색이없다. 작곡, 작사, 편곡, 세션까지 두루 섭렵한 그의 음악적 기량은 단순히 솔로음반작업이 아닌….음악적 도약을 뜻하는것이기도하다. ‘삐에로’라는 타이틀곡에서 느껴지는 제목의 강렬함은 어쩌면 또다른 페르소나를 향한 이수의 철학으로 비유해도 좋을듯하다. 이번 음반은 총 11곡의 수록되었으며 이수의 독창성이 돋보임과 동시에 그의 음악적 영혼이나 마찬가지인 MC.The Max의 멤버들이 참여해 더욱더 깊이를 주고있으며, gavy nj(가비엔제이)등 실력파뮤지션들이 피쳐링을 맡아 음악적 완성도를 더하고있다. 한때 연기를 전공하기도한 이수는 이번 타이틀곡 ‘삐에로’의 뮤직비디오(양진호 감독)에 직접 출연하여 고속촬영기법을 도입한 독특한 영상에 그의 음악적 도약을 함축적으로 표현해내었다. 비, 이효리등과 작업한 이재윤 사진작가가 촬영한 음반 쟈켓은 그동안 정적으로 묘사된 이수의 모습과 달리 지극히 모성애를 자극할만한 남성미가 풍부하게 연출되어있다.

Congrats to Isu!.............. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Since MC The Max is one of my most favorite music groups, so there is no surprise that its lead singer Isu has become one of my favorite solo artists. First of all, I'm just so glad that he is not leaving the group and second of all, he has shown that he is a versatile singer. From this CD, he has shown that he is not only an excellent ballad and r&b singer, but a soft rock singer as well (Track 1). His voice is soothing and kind of sweet and mellow, yet firm and strong at the right places. In a crowded space of singers, Isu' voice stands out like all other great singers. He is at his best not only when he belts out his feelings and emotions at higher and prolong notes, giving a certain spacial feeling, but his voice is also magnetic and soothing at lower range, releasing a sort of calming and relaxing effect. That being said, I think Isu can improve 2 or 3 extreme high notes in Track 2 and another track. You know, sometime artists are like normal people. They have 'bad hair days' too. I don't know if I have used the right terminology. :) But you can tell how much I like Isu. My favorites are Tracks 2, 3, 6, 8, 9 & 11. So, get this CD and all CDs by MC The Max!

Btw, I also want to recommend the group's track in the CD, Music Drama, after Breakup. It's a heart wrenching ballad. The whole CD is worth getting.
