A Must-buy: Jacky Live Performance ~ Jacky Cheung The one-day-only "Sports for Live" Concert by Jacky Cheung was held last October in Hong Kong and not until recently has it been included in an album. Jacky Live Performance , published by What's Music (HK), sees twenty five of Jacky's greatest hits of all time included. When compared to any concerts held in 2004, "Sports for Live" is definitely one of the best. The arrangement of songs was in so far special that, instead of singing his own big hits in the entire concert, Jacky performed twenty signature songs of other stars and that surely brings a breath of fresh air. Then in the encore he finally sang five of his songs. Jacky was excellent on the night. He of course kept the very best standard when singing his greatest hits, the one surprising thing was that he was even better than the original singers in some signature songs of other artists. Some in English and others in Mandarin and Cantonese, all the songs that Jacky sang were classics and extremely popular in the past. As for his vocal, it is amazing. Not only has he got such solid skills, he is also able to get the best out of every song. Let us take Leo Ku's Hurt Love Chaser and Miriam Yeung's Small Town Big Affair as examples, Jacky's performance is as good as theirs. In Hurt Love Chaser (CD1, Track#11), he is more passionate and makes the song even more sentimental. And in Small Town Big Affair (CD1, Track#12), Jacky has a more delicate grasp of that jumpy and uneasy feeling of the song and rocks our hearts better than Miriam does. Other songs such as First of May (CD1, Track#1), Tears (CD1, Track#3), Chase (CD2, Track#7) and Clear Star (CD2, Track#1) are all dazzling and Crazy (CD1, Track#10) is absolutely the present reviewer's favourite. Unfortunately though understandably, Jacky is not perfect in every song he sang. For example, his version is not as good as Faye Wong's and Zhang XinZhe's in Engagement (CD1, Track#6) and Tidal Love (CD2, Track#4). However, this does nothing to diminish the attractiveness of the concert. As for the five Jacky originals, the duets It Really Hurts (CD2, Track#11) and Love Is Eternal (CD2, Track#13), by Jacky and Wang Wan Zhi, are very appealing. Wang's voice is mellifluous and very pleasant to listen to and is a bit like Faye Wong's and Fan Hsiao Hsuan's. The present reviewer believes she has a great potential. I bought this DVD after reading the favarable reviews posted on the web. After watching the DVD I unfortunately was not too pleased with the performance. Jacky has a very good voice and technics to deliver a good performance. However a great artist is not just about delivering a flawless sound not about hitting the highest notes and not even about how nice it sounds. What he lacks is the ways to touch the heart of the audiences. I was not impacted by his performance emotinally. May be the correct way to say that is there is not enough soul. Granted, this is only a pop concert. But if I can't feel anything in a sad love song , there is something wrong with it. He did much better when he sang his own cantonese songs. As for the madarin songs, he was so uptight in geting the correct pronounciations that he forgot about the songs' emotional aspect. Jacky is the best when he decides to be himself. When he tries to be someone else, I am afraid that it is not too good. |

Just Wonderful!!!
| I have the album and the dvd concert, and it is just one of the best. Despite his hair in this concert, his voice just hypnotizes you. The songs that he sang from other artist he made it his own. It's just purely wonderful. For those that are looking for good music, then this album should be in your collection. |

| Jacky, you're definitely one of best Chinese pop singers that the Chinese peaking world ever seen. I loved this DVD very much. Singing 20 hits from other Chinese pop singers. I also loved your five songs, especially the song you've sung with Ivana Wang Yuen-chi in a duet - "I'm Really Emotionally Hurt Now". I hope you may record "Snow Wolf Lake" (Mandarin version) onto VCD and/or DVD with Chinese and English subtitles, just like the H.K. movies. Thanks, Jacky. |

Jacky's Best Concert Of All Time !!!

I've seen so many of Jacky's concert but to be honest this one is the best and greatest of all. His solid voice is still a class above the rest of HK's singer although he is no longer in his peak. I think he is bold to ran a concert that specified in singing other singers' famous song rather than his own which i think not many would dare to do. Really cant describe more. It's simply an awesome, fabulous, amazing, versatile and evergreen Jacky!! I hope he lives and sings for another 100 years!! |

| Well , if you ask my opinion about this dvd , I would just give it a thumbs-up . I love to listen to the song entitled " My heart is really broken " sung by Jacky together with a female singer . The lyrics of the songs is so meaningful and impressive. So good to listen to Jacky's mellow voice throughout the concert. Be sure to get one copy. |
