Shimizu Takashi's ultimate grudge
| This film is the theater version released in 2003. Produced by Shimizu Takashi (aka New horror king in Japan). A remake of it's own video version released back in 1999. The ultimate horror plot made this film project a "must see". I was very overwhelm by the way how the screen play was brilliantly arranged in this film. Extreme graphic horror themes still give me the chills whenever I think about this film. This is a true horror film straight up! Unique in it's own way that truly deserved a lot of attentions. The only famous cast member in this film is Okina Megumi who was no stranger to J-horror films & did a fine job for her role. Many of you may remember her from the horror film "St John's wort"(a 2001 production). This is simply the best J-horror film I saw all year long in 2003. I highly recommended to all horror flick fans. And by the way, also do not missed out on "Juon 2 theather version" starting Sakai Noriko. The grudge continues... |

Good Horror!

This is a great film to watch even if you cant speak Japanese!!! I have watched it in Japan with NO ENGLISH SUBTITLES or STRONG ABILITY to SPEAK or UNDERSTAND JAPANESE and I can honestly tell you I was looking around my bedroom that very same night just to make sure nothing was HOVERING or STANDING in the corner!!! It is that POWERFUL. This film creates the perfect atmosphere of fear by allowing the viewer to have fleeting moments of terror as the story unfolds around a cursed house (a murder/suicide took place there five years previously) and anyone that comes into that house after...... My understanding is that Japanese horror movies usually focus on atmosphere rather than a proper story line so dont expect to understand the story 100%. However, you will not be disappointed with the way this film is done as it definitely delivers what most viewers want to see when they watch a HORROR movie. There is nothing like walking pass a mirror only to glimpse a ghost walking pass at the same time or to hear the pitter patter of a dead boys feet as he runs by you in the background or to see a pair of ghostly eyes looking at you through a glass sliding door... in a different house! It is very eerie and spooky. Watch it!!! I really liked it. |

A good horror story, but a little confusing
| Overall, the ideas in Juon are great. Anyone that enters a haunted house become cursed and taken out by the angry spirits of a murdered-suicide family. What makes the movie confusing is that it's not told in sequence, but rather by chapters. I still don't understand how long the first couple and mother lived in the house (and why they didn't die sooner) or how the protagonist survived for so long. Despite these shortcomings, it's still a fun film. |

Touch if you want to see
| I don't think this film is that scary, well...compare to the Ring(Japanese verion) that is not that scary. Only few part are kind nasty...but allover all, touch if you just need some film to watch. |

Don't watch
| I must say this movie is one of the scariest films ever. I don't know how sick the director and writers are, but they need some serious help for making this movie. This movie gives a great adrenaline rush, but the images and afterthoughts will freak you out for a while and it'll make you paranoid. Take my advice and stay away from this film. |

One word....SCARY
| If you havn't seen this movie by now, you are missing out the scariest film ever made in any language. Compare to this, "The Ring" is more like "Sesame Street". 2 of my friends can not take shower along for weeks after watching it. (If you watched it already, you would know why). Anyway, this is a MUST SEE film. I can't wait for Part 2 and U.S. version to come out. |

NOT RECOMMENDED, BUT THIS IS VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
|
Though the plot of the story should be given great attention before you fully understand-- the creators of Ju-on 1 and 2 had been greatly produced the story into a very creepy, one-hell-of-a-kind movie! You really have to watch it several times just to understand how that terrible curse spread on its victims very fast-- and that's if you could do so;) Mabuhay! Ju-on! |
