Adapted from the acclaimed comic by Yazawa Ai, director Nikai Ken recruited L'Arc~en~Ciel lead singer HYDE, Kill Bill's Kuriyama Chiaki and newcomer Narimiya Hiroki to star in this strange love story.

Every 19 years, during "Kagen no Tsuki", or Last Quarter of the Moon, a miracle is set to happen and a romance is set to brew. Muzuki (Kuriyama) breaks up with her boyfriend Tomoki on her 19th birthday. Muzuki, feeling lonely and having nowhere to go, suddenly hears a familiar guitar melody. She followed the sound to an old house, where she meets Adam. They fall in love and vowed to meet a week later. However, on a night of the last quarter of the moon, Muzuki was run over by a car. She awakes to find herself in the old house, but she cannot leave it. She is still alive, lying in a coma, but existing as a ghost in the house...

Director Nikai Ken is known for his work directing MVs, having previously worked with HYDE, pierrot and The Gospellers; and his previous film Soundtrack won Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography at The 12th Spain International Fantastic Film Festival. HYDE not only recorded the theme song for the film, "THE CAPE OF STORMS", he also takes on the role as mysterious musician Adam in the film. Kuriyama, famed internationally for taking on more psychotic roles, plays an ordinary girl for the first time in her career.

    Excellent Last Quarter Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
    This film was pre-ordered by me in January, and i am so glad to have obtained it. I had already seen Haido-san in Moon Child with Gackto; Haido-san is a very good actor, and i'm glad he was in Last Quarter. It was so sweet, but also so said about the character Adam. Would love to see Haido-san in other films as well! Hint, hint! Good going hansamu!

    Different from the manga, but great nonetheless Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
    I originally had read the manga of the same name by Yazawa, Ai and I really loved the story. The movie is very different from the manga though:

    MANGA
    - There are four schoolchildren helping to solve the mystery (2 girls, 2 boys): Hotaru, Sae, Tetsu, and Masaki
    - Mizuki's little stepsister plays a larger role
    - Cats are more significant
    - Tomoki, Mizuki's boyfriend, isn't obssessed with motorbikes and doesn't have one
    - Adam's full name is revealed: Adam Lang
    - Adam was originally in a band of 4 (himself included)

    Regardless, the entire film is done very well with a nice goth touch to it, the cast is superb and did a great job squeezing Hotaru and Tetsu into one person and Sae and Masaki into the other. Buy this DVD, you won't regret it.

    WHAT AN AWESOME MOVIE ^.^
    THE CHARACTERS, THE PLOT, HYDE XDD~~~~
    This was an awesome movie that my sister and I bought.
    This was well worth our money :D
    I couldn't believe how the movie went with all the twists.
    Chiaki wasn't half bad as non-pyschotic chick and Hiroki was really good-looking in the movie.
    This was a really cute love story.
    And HYDE-san's character had a really huge impact on the rest of the characters.
    I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! AND MY BOXSET!!! :D

    ..at last Hyde shooting a new film! but no Gackt -_- hahahaa! But sure this film will be a great movie! since I'm waiting for it to be out here in my country! I was thinking to buy the one from here (b4) but after I read it was DVD2, desperate.. haha.. coz what i can see is the DVD3 one, not sure if i'm buying it, would it be worthed or not.. But Hyde.... as what I know this movie is one of a MUST SEE movie!the stroy is very gud and quite tricky" ^_^

    Well Worth the Wait Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
    When I pre orderd Kagen no Tsuki - Last Quarter I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. Was it going worth the amount of money I was spending on the Platinum Box set, or was I going to be stuck with a good looking box of nothing? Answer is YES! It was well worth every penny and the wait. Truth be told, I bought the movie on the strength of HYDE from his last movie Moon Child. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kuriyama Chiaki playing a soft and sweet young woman, and not the psychotic butt kicking tough female that I've seen her play. It was very refreshing.
    There are many, many twists and turns in this movie so don't blink or you'll miss what's going on. With most love story movies one can pretty much guess as to what's going to happen next, but with Kagen I was guessing all the way to the end. Will she or won't she? Pick up the movie and find out for yourslef. Then too, the music was absolutly beautiful that I'm getting the soundtrack. The special effects and cinematography outstanding. Again I say: well worth it.
