Familiar Shaw Brothers face Law Lit stars in Kidnap, a hit action-drama about the evil that men do. Law Lit is a poor gas station attendant who falls in love with the lovely Hu Chin at first sight. Sadly, this is reality, so simply coming onto her won't get the job done. His first plan of pretending to be a rich playboy fails spectacularly when his smarmy boss outs him right in front of his beloved. Without a girl or money, there can be only one solution: crime. A kidnapping plot is hatched, but the best laid plans of mice and men rarely come to fruition. Mistakes, sloppy accomplices, and ultimately murder get in the way of a smooth plan for easy money. It can all end only one way: badly. Director Cheng Gang pulls out all the stops, and creates a harrowing morality play where bad deeds beget even worse deeds, and finally incarceration or death. Kidnap is a tough, uncompromising thriller that's also compelling and darkly entertaining.
