YesAsia Editorial Description

WaT's Koike Teppei (Lovely Complex) and Nodame Cantabile's Tamaki Hiroshi star in the highly anticipated new film Kids. After successfully adapting the main story from renowned writer Otsuichi's best-selling light novel series Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai to film in early 2007, director Hagishima Tatsuya brings the novel's second story Kids to the big screen with an even more photogenic cast and heartrending narrative. From Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai to Waiting in the Dark, Otsuichi's works are known for their acute depictions of pain and loneliness, and Kids again hits the heart with the story of three friends walking a long and lonely road of suffering and healing. Other than the fan service pairing of Koike Teppei and Tamaki Hiroshi, Kids also co-stars popular actress Kuriyama Chiaki (Kill Bill).

On the outside, tough scrap yard worker Takeo (Tamaki Hiroshi) seems to have nothing in common with the innocent, almost childlike Asato (Koike Teppei), but both are lonely souls bearing dark pasts. Crossing paths by chance, Takeo, Asato, and shy diner waitress Shiho (Kuriyama Chiaki) strike up an unlikely friendship, making life in their dead-end hometown a bit more bearable. Asato was born with special powers that prove to be both his blessing and his curse: he has the ability to transfer other people's wounds to his own body. He can't help but try to heal those around him, including Takeo and Shiho, but his powers come at a painful cost. Asato's powers tore apart his family years ago and continue to tear at him in the present. With Asato determined to hurt himself to help others, Takeo may be the only one who can save his friend.

Yosh!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
KIDS-KIZUNA version is a must get. Though i woudn't really recommend to those who don't understand japanese because as you see..it's in japanese language and the subtitles are in...japanese as well. So, for those who're hoping for english subtitles..sorry. Anyway, KIDS is a remarkable movie. I have watched it 3 times so far, and those 3 times..hehe..its embarassing to say but yeah, i cried. Koike Teppei's acting was splendid and furthermore, his smile acts as a charm in the movie. Tamaki Hiroshi's wild-type character with his rugged outlook portrays perfectly.
Oh yeah..and the special features in KIDS-KIZUNA edition; the postcards are so charming and cute. You can also see through 'The Making' but since its Asato's edition..so, most..i mean all of the interviews are only Koike Teppei. Those who are fans of Tamaki, i recommend the HIKARI edition. I bet the special features will be as entertaining as KIZUNA's edition and for those who's just interested in the movie, get the normal edition. I promise, KIDS is worth the money.
