June 27, 2008 I'm back after seeing 1st partI have officially watched the first 20 episodes of this drama.
I'm not so sure that this drama is better than dae jang geum.
Yes, this is a good drama, but sometimes it does get on my nerves. You just feel like the crown prince never gets a break, and yu expect the same thing over and over again.
The music is really nice, but I can't really stand the girl in the drama. She is too passive. She may be pretty, but has no acting talent.
I would buy volume 2, but it just depresses me to think i have to buy 3 more volumes!!! If volume 2 is not that exiting, i'll just stop there, but It did hold my interst enough to want to see the second volume, even though episode 20 did not end in a way that grabed my attention.Did you find this review helpful? May 23, 2008 became a dissapointmentI seem like the odd one out....seems like a lot of people liked this drama, after reading all the reviews. I guess movie lover and I are the only one's that were not impressed with this series.
The begining was actually good for me. I enjoyed it a lot. I was laughing really hard on parts and found myself smiling, and getting exited to watch this series.
However, once the drama got to episode 6 or 7, the movie did not improve towards the end of the drama that lasts till 17 episodes. So for 10 episodes nothing really exiting happends, and i felt like the producers were draggin the show out. I HATED the ending part as well and something else that occurs in the drama that you normally don't see in korean dramas.
Anyhoo, i thought this drama had a lot of potential especially in the first 6 to 7 episodes, but lost my attention span after that.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

May 23, 2008 better than dae jang geumMy dad has seen both Dae Jang Geum and Yi san...I asked him which one he likes better and he said Yi san is much better.

February 5, 2008 ok, but let me down a littleAfter finding out that this movie was created by the directors of winter sonato, I figured this movie had to be good. However, it was a little dissapointing.
Yes, the movie was good, don't get me wrong. The music was also beautiful, and let me tell you, the guy in this drama saved the drama all together. that is how good he was.
As far as the actress, I did not care too much for her. At times I felt like she was not acting good enough, and she also failed to give any chemestry with the male lead.
My husband liked this drama a lot, so I'm sure many people would as well, i' just expected a better drama. The ending was predictable, and the movie kind of dragged on. It's not a drama I would want to rewatch.
So conclusion, good, but not worth watching again.

September 20, 2007 not worth buyingthis drama was not the best. If you like to yell at the characters constantly through out the drama, then this movie is for you. Kim Han Neul's character can not make up her mind and acts soooo stupid in this drama.
Someone else made the comment that her dress style is not good, they were right. Her clothes are actually distracting, whoever dressed her made her look like a granny.
I love Lee Dun Gun so I was kind of dissapointed that he picked this series to work in. I did not feel any chemistery between the actors because Kim han neul just does not do a good job acting.
One last note, the ending was terrible. I hated the ending. I spoke to 3 of my friends that watched this movie, and they agreed. It's such a dissapointment.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

February 17, 2007 under estimatedThis is a very cute, fun drama. I was actually surprised at the last 3 reviews given for this drama. This is a light-hearted drama, and that is what i liked about it, because all the dramas seem to be about death and cancer. So this was refreshing to watch. Both actor and actress had very good chemestry and that is what made the movie.

It is so worth the money. I have heard that there are some dramas with 3 volumes that have boring parts to them and are slow, however, this drama is never boring!!! There always seems to be a new fresh twist and turn. Even when i was watching volume 3, and it ended, I was so sad that it was not longer. lol. However, this drama was not what i expected from her, after watching such a great drama she did. What made the movie not so great was I did not like the main lead male. (he's not the guy in the pic which is actually a good actor.) The main male, maybe it was the personality he had to play, but it was not doing anything for the drama. I also did not like how the producers made the story line to make the main female lead be so pathetic all the time, pursuing the male as if he were the prize. To be honest with you, Save the last dance for me is the worst drama i've ever seen, and this drama is the 2nd worst drama i've ever seen.

December 3, 2006 bad, bad, bad!!!!!I've watched a lot of korean dramas, and this ranked the worst drama I've ever seen, literally. The lead female actress is very pretty, however, both leads can not act very well. There was NO chemestry between them as well, and it seemed forced. The music is catchy, and made the drama nice, but the whole thing seemed forced, and not natural. There was also a lot of pointless scenes, that dragged the movie. April 20, 2006 Not worth spending money onEven though this drama kept me at suspense a couple of times, just wondering what was going to happen, over all it was not a great movie. I wouldent spend money to buy it. It did not really hold my attention and it was kind of boring. The actress Kim ha-neul is a very bad actress to me so it made the movie go downhill, being the main actress is horrible at acting. Ha ji won was ok, she kind of over did the bad guy In my opinion./ but i do find her acting to be better than kim ha-neuls. Over all it was the bad acting that made me turned off by this drama. It's mostly about a woman who envies another woman, and tries to take everything away from her, her boyfriend 2times, her job,etc, so there is a very dark tone to this movie, yet it's so captiviating. I found myself watching the entire 20 hours of this drama in 3 days. Cha rim is very pretty, as well as jang don gun who is very handsome.
What i enjoyed watching in this film was how much in love cha rim was in love with her best guy friend, and while she's in so much pain she actually starts to fall in love with someone she met that becomes her friend. Even though she was in a lot of pain, she really was comforted by jang don gun the whole time, and falling in love without even knowing it. Very charming couple.

April 15, 2006 Best Korean Drama ever!!!!This is my favorite Korean drama. It was nice to see a drama that did not involve cancer, or someone being hit by a car. It was light, sweet, and romantic, and of course this drama includes bad guys which all dramas have. I loved how sweet Jo in sungs love was for the lead actress. The chemistry btw both actors is what makes the movie work. Jo in sung is so cute!!!! at first the girl seemed annoying when I first watched this, but then she grows on you, she's definitly not the average korean actress, and is very good and has natural talent, just like my man jo in sung. December 30, 2005 Best Korean Drama ever!!!!I just finnished watching the entire series, 1-3. This is my new favorite Korean drama I have ever watched. It is so good, and the music just haunts me. I can't stop talking about it to all my friends and co-workers, and I talk about it so much that most of them promised me that they would check it out. I can't believe I discovered this drama only recently!!!If you are Korean drama lover, this is the number one out there. My favorite used to be stairway to heaven, and love letter, but those 2 drama's don't come close to this one. Even though it's set in the olden times, it s so good.
As far as subtitles go, excellent. I'm bilingual, and i don't know what the other reviewer was talking about, yesasia's subtitles are the best that i've seen.
