Actually, the story of the film is very simple and straight forward. However, both the actors and directors are stars and did a good job.
Simon Yam and Gordon Lam act well and introduce a strange relationship between their characters. Johnnie To shows again his great ability in handling multiple groups in the same scenes.
The film is a good collection of the three great directors in Hong Kong. -

Legendary director King Hu (A Touch of Zen) brings us Legend of the Mountain, a gorgeous tale of the supernatural set in Ancient China. Shih Jun is Ho, a scholar who journeys to the wilderness to transcribe some Buddhist Sutras, which contain within them the power to reincarnate spirits. However, during his journey, Ho begins to see ethereal visions. Upon arriving at his destination, he finds the area to be populated by few, a result of wars thinning the population. -
