YesAsia Editorial Description

No Kidding, Lee Min Ki is releasing an album! The well-known lead of hits like Spring of Dalja and Romantic Island, heartthrob Lee Min Ki displayed his musical talents before with the Oishii Man theme song Frozen Mountain and the collaborative digital single Power of Love, and now he's making the jump to singing complete with his debut album. The actor-turned-singer may often play roguish characters onscreen, but he's completely serious about his venture into music. Lee has been playing piano and guitar for several years, and pulls out quite a few surprises in No Kidding. He collaborated with talented artists like French electronica musicians and producers Kid Loco and Popular Computer, Korean punk band Skrew Attack, and One-Two to create the album's six edgy tracks including the first plug "Eternal Summer" and JOUJOU, which comes in a "MINKI Remix" version.

Catchy and Versatile Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I will be the first to admit that my decision to buy this CD were very shallow and motivated solely by my love for Lee Min Ki. After seeing him in Shut Up Flower Boy Band and realizing that he could sing, I was curious about his musical foray.

I received my copy in the mail today, and I am impressed. The songs range from danceable electronic,to mellow bass tunes, to an almost classic punk rock sound. I love the fact that his voice is never overtly auto-tuned or manufactured - It sounds like the Min Ki oppa from the dramas I love so much. The songs do not lean too much in any direction; it does not sound like the producers were trying too hard to make him have an idol band sound or anything like that.

Overall, I am impressed and will be enjoying this CD very much. If he chooses to keep making music I would definitely buy his future releases.

Great Album Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I love this CD - in fact, it was the first Korean CD I have ever bought.
I never regretted it. Rather, I'm sad he hasn't released another one.

At first, I hesitated a bit before giving Minki a try because he's a famous actor.
(The other actors who tried out singing around the same time didn't really do that well)
But by chance I happened to hear one of his songs, and damn!, I was sold immediately.

If you want mainstream idol music, this is not really for you. However, Minki's voice is smooth and calming, without getting boring, and definitely worth a try. If you don't, you're missing out on something great.

FINALLY! >_< Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This album is extremely unique and amazing. In this onging k-pop industry where actors are turning k-pop singers and vice versa, I was hesistant to give this album a spin. I was disappointed with Lee Min Ho's (Boys Over Flowers) music and many other actors who went 'pop' for a quick minute for money. Everything sounds so mainstream nowadays, so I overlooked this, but I reallly regret not giving this album a spin earlier. ^^()

This album is not K-pop mainstream whatsoever, but rock. It's hard to really compare this to other artists, but the closest artist I can think of to compare it is 'The Flaming Lips' (or maybe even 'The Killers' or 'Yeah Yeah Yeah's'). Um, for some reason it has this european rock feel, but the voice is totally different. I really can't seem to confidently compare this sound to anyone elses...

I love his voice. It may not be a strong ballad voice or a hype pop voice like what mainstream korean listeners are used to, but his music is solely his own and actually fits his voice perfectly. The calm rock with a slight punk sound really pulls you into "Lee Min Ki" and not into the thoughts of "he sounds just like....*such and such* like most k-pop artists. I really love artists where I come to a loss of comparing them to others.

I say give this album a spin and try not to fall into the stereoype of him being a famous actor. I think he has some talent that's being overlooked because he's not following the current flow of music. This album is completely his own and I really hope Lee Min Ki doesn't get discouraged and make this a one time thing. I hope he keeps going, letting out occasional albums.

If you like rock, this is a nice treat. ^_^ I really recommend this album.
