The popular star spend no less than 3 years to prepare his 8th major album that all of his fans have been waiting for in anticipation. This time's main theme Karma is an extension to Li's 5th album Cycle that explored the Buddhist philosophy of revolving pain. On the new album the Li talks about the relationship between people and touches upon philosophical topics like cause and effect as well as fate and other profound issues. Normally always referring to an international team of musicians, Li this time assembled a group of native talents: Hwang Seong-je took care of the compositions and acclaimed next generation drummer Lee Sang-hun, Roller Coaster's Ji-nu as well as Kim Sa-hwang were also invited to help brew the magic sounds of this new musical treat.

이승환의 8집 앨범 Karma(카르마)는 그의 5집 cycle(윤회)에 이은 사람과 사람 사이의 관계에 대한 얘기다. 그는 이번 앨범에서 사전적인 의미인 인과응보, 인연, 업에 대한 지극히 개인적인 관심과 이해들을 은유적으로 때론 공격적이다 싶을 정도로 직설적인 표현들로 풀어내고 있다.
이번 앨범에는 두 곡의 가사에만 이승환이 직접 참여하지 않았는데 이 두곡 중 작사가 ‘조은희’가 선사한 가사가 주목이 된다. 이곡은 제목이 숨겨진 바로 그 타이틀 곡이기도 한데, 그녀는 좋아하는 뮤지션과의 작업에서 쓸 요량으로 숨겨 두었던 최상의 문장 조합이라 표현했다. 뮤직비디오 촬영스케치 장면이 TV에 방송되면서 화면에 나온 일부분의 가사들로 이미 그의 팬들 사이에서 화제가 되며 그들의 기대감을 더욱 증폭시키고 있다.

Okay...
| This CD was not what I really expected. I heard the first two songs on different shows and they made me become interested in this artist. However, the other tracks were slightly dissappointing. Overall, this was an okay album, but I'm sure Lee Seung Hwan can do much better. |

Karma
| I just bought the Cd to listen to a certain song I heard in a show. To tell everyone, the first song in the album was the one I was looking for. I never thought I would like the other songs. Well some had a really cool beat, but some were not suited to my taste, they were lame and I just simply skipped at the beginning seconds of them. Still, I loved the first song and I play it over and over again. As for the ratings, I don't hate on just about anything so I gave it this rating. |
