Legend Of The Condor Heroes & Return Of The Condor Heroes both are the best TVB serial ever.I watched both serial since I am little girl maybe about 25 years ago.I got all the VHS,VCD & the DVD that the best collection I ever had.My father had the book collection about the Jin Hong author.I am still watching it until now,never get bored.The actors are really good acting,the martial art work really wonderful.LOCH been re-film with different actress & actors but they can't beat the original LOCH'83 they are the best one.No one can't beat Yung Mei Ling as Wong Yung or Miu Kiu Wai as Yeung Hong.My mum had LOCH'05 & I try to watch it through but I can only finish the 5 VCD because for me LOCH'83 still in my mind,never replaced.Yung Mei Ling,Wong Yat Wah & Miu Kiu Wai even Yang Pan Pan they work really well together.They the best TVB serial ever,I been hoping TVB can do another serial as good as LOCH'83.The LOCH'83 with the English subtitled is really good,eventhough the subtitled appear slightly quick but being married with the British man & living in NZ it's help my husband alot at least I don't have to translated to him & he can understand why his wife very addicted to Chinesse serial.Two thumbs up for all the actors also for Yesasia making me shopping the Chinesse movie more easier now.This serial is the best ever TVB made it.

Can anybody out there advice whether this DVD version of (Uncut Edition) is really uncut?

I do not wish to be dissapointed again after watching the so called 'UNCUT' version of "Return of the Condor Heroes".

Can anybody tell whether this DVD series is 'Cut' or 'Uncut' Version? I don't wish to be dissapointed again after watching 'Return of the Condor Heroes' featured by Andy Lau and Idy Chen.

Seems like the so called 'Uncut' version still have some cut portion.

all i can say that this movie is the 2nd best. well, i don't want to kill the ending. Any of u out there want 2 watch should buy this movie 4 collection.

LOCH83 is the best TVB-series. Great actors with outstanding performances´. The themesongs are great. Barbara Yung and Felix Wong were great together, they had great chemistry. Some complained about the sound on the DVD. As I remember, the sound has always been like that. Sometimes high and sometimes low. They recorded it in the early 80´s, what do you expect? All old series sounds like that. Buy this product, it´s worth it.

Barbara Yung's portrayal of Huang Rong is just amazing. 5 thumbs up. Felix Wong acting may not be as entertaining as Barbara's BUT he acted his character quite well. His naivete can be infuriating sometimes but it's the character his playing.

I will watch the show again!

ps. I haven't seen any other rendition of the series so I can't compare.

More than once have I heard from my mom that Barbara Yung and her portrayal as "Wong Yung" is the best, not to mentioned, the most memorable character of TVB history. I was like, "Barbara Yung? Who's she?" To satisfy my curiosity, I first purchased "Return of the Condor Heroes" that starred Andy Lau and Idy Chan to watch. There's a Wong Yung inside this series, too, played by Au Yeung Pui San. Personally, she did a fabulous job playing the "now-matured" Wong Yung character. Yet she isn't the one, everyone was praising about.

Like everyone else, The Legend of the Condor Heroes of 82, is one of the best series I have ever seen from TVB. The casts, the martial arts, the performance was just phenomenal! And of course, Barbara Yung's performance as Wong Yung is undeniably the best I've seen. Everyone would come to love her, I guaranteed it!

As for the DVD set itself, the sounds are a bit unbalance. Like the dialogues are too soft, while the background music is too loud. The picture quality is very nice. Although this was my first time to watch LOTCH and YesAsia says it's the "unedited" version, I believed them. I was able to follow the storyline nicely.

Hope YesAsia would release more of Barbara Yung's series in DVD format, as I would definitely buy it! VCDs....I'm scared to even buy it from what I'd read here.

I haven't finished the DVDs yet, but here's my review on what I've noticed so far. The DVDs are 3 plastic cases in a thin box set. There are 5 disks in each case. Not the best quality because mine arrived with the holders broken, so the DVDs were just loose in the box. Picture quality is great.
The Main Menu is in Chinese which is bad if you can't read Chinese. Chapters are separated and you are taken back to the main menu to access the next chapter (not continuous) but you can hit Next Chapter on your remote.
The audio does get loud at times and soft at others.
Subtitles are white with black border - so easy to read. It disappears pretty quickly sometimes.
Doesn't appear edited, but I haven't seen the VHS in over 15 years, so I can't really tell.

The DVD includes the Making Of feature and an extra disk that I haven't viewed yet (looks like an advertisment).

So very pleased with the LOCH DVDs. Never knew TVB had it in them to deliver a quality DVD set...I'm talking about the DVD compared to the VCD edition. As for the actual adaptation of a classic story - this is by far the most memorable. A fabulous cast and wonderful performances by all.

Oh, and thanks YesAsia for conducting that TVB survey years ago...the catalyst to get TVB to re-release classic series uncut on DVD with English subtitles. Yay!

The DVD is great. Finally they smartin up and put the series on DVD with no edits. Excellent!!! The only minor complaint I might have is the sound. The sound often will drop to a very low volume and then rise to a very high level, but if you find the magic number on your volume control you should be fine. I own the VCD version and I am dumping that out. This DVD set is great. Sure bring back memories when I was a kid. Ultimately, this is a must get if you are a fan. Yung Mei Ling is great, too bad she past away, but we fans will never forget her and her role in this series.
