The book has an artistically designed hard cover, for which I give my high rating. However, the narration and photos insider are not up to expectation, given that it is published by Mingpao, a long-standing reputable mediea group in HK, being sold at an above-average price. **1) Certain contents appear to be rather judgemental, and even harsh on Leslie, eg. Leslie being described as trailing Mr. Alan Tam in popularity in 1980's because the quality of his songs are not as surperb as those of Mr. Alan Tam, and that his image on the Passion Tour 2000 being described as anti-social norm and associated with his fear for aging, etc. The book is classified as biography, but the tone adopted is not appropriate for publications of this nature **2) The photos inside are largely excerpted from other magazines and publications on Leslie published by the mainland publishers. They do not appear to have been carefully selected and printed to show different sides of Leslie in his different career stages. **3) It's full of 'details' about the hearsay and rumours about Leslie, but the arthurs have been no efforts to find out truth about them. The sources of these details are not properly acknowledged. **All in all, it is a commercial product produced with scant sincertiy to project Leslie in a fair and delighted light. |
