YesAsia Editorial Description

The message on Edison Chen's new album is short and simple: Let Me Re-introduce Myself. While his last two albums Please Steal This Album and Hazy: The 144 Hour Project saw him experimenting in Cantonese hip-hop, he now shifts his attention to Mandarin. The singer shunned no efforts, spending three years to prepare this release, no doubt, in order to surprise his growing number of music lovers. Among the songs to look out for are "Remember Me?" (Track 1), which is co-written by Edison and Han Jin and arranged by DJ Tommy; "Impossible" (Track 10), whose MV was directed by young overseas Chinese director Vernie with Africa in the backdrop; and the rhythm-filled ballad Act Like U Know. With the album showing Edison in a different light, his dedicated devotees should prick up their ears for his latest sounds.

no doubt Edison has a heart for music but what he does is just weird. his songs are horrible. his money and face is why this album even existed. dude i mean you know better so next time just put 1 song and 50,000 pictures, I'm pretty sure people will buy it. anyways i just wish he would stick to looking pretty cause his songs are just embarrassing. Seriously don't recommend this album but i got it anyways cause im a edison album collector :]

Better than previous albums Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I just bought this cd and about half of the songs on this album are good. If you like western style rap music this cd is definitely for you.

Disappointing Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
After three years, Edison Chen has finally released his latest album. As much as I use to like Edison, this album was horrible. Track 1 Remember Me currently the latest hit, involves a fresh western & eastern style, however the lyrics were rather meaningless. In fact, all the songs in this album were meaningless. I can't help but to feel that he is so conceited for bragging about himself in the songs. I wonder if he can sing anything that's not relating to himself. There were no good vocals accompanying this album either. Improvement? I don't see much in his singing.

I was hoping he would produce songs like Hong Kong Ground. I'd say his albums with EEG were better than this.

Improvement Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Generally speaking, this album sounds better than previous ones, namely, due to better production and an improvement in Edison’s performance. Edison also does a better job rapping in mandarin than in Cantonese as the language intonation better fits the musical material he has to work with.

However, i found that some the tracks did not have a good flow in terms of the rapping of the lyrics, although in fairness, the music arrangements worked well. Also, the overall album lacked cohesiveness from one song to another. Individually, the tracks were "ok" but not brilliant, except track 1, which I found to be quite unique (eastern/western fusion), catchy, and worth listening to.

Overall, Edison needs to develop his own signature sound instead of trying to blend into styles better suited to other artists. An example is track 2, where his voice lacks the bass to bring out the essence of the song. He may be trying too hard to emulate western artists.

Nevertheless, this album demonstrated evident improvement, so I will give him another chance on his next album. Good effort but lots of room to get better: 6/10
