一個十七歲的少女，她孤獨而好幻想，把即將出國的表哥視為白馬王子，她在閨房裡擺有表哥的照片，她在面對表哥時，是一副木納嬌羞的模樣，表哥在一次意外的車禍中死亡，纖弱和純真的感情受不了巨大的打擊，以致精神崩潰。本片可說是導演白景瑞的一鳴驚人之作，他本想用年輕人的心戀對台灣現實社會提出強烈批評，但擔心引起不良後果，於是用細膩唯美的手法，來描寫一個十七歲少女的叔寞心靈，儘管在風格上不太統一，但卻也令觀眾耳目一新，影片在當時叫好叫座，並為他贏得了金馬獎最佳導演獎。
