My Beautiful Girl, Mari is the first major animated film in years to try to forge a new image for the Korean animation industry. The film tells the story of a boy named Namoo who lives in a seaside village. Several years after the death of his father, Namoo finds himself faced with further struggles: his grandmother is ill, his mother has a new boyfriend, and his best friend will move to Seoul at the end of the summer. Struggling with the prospect of further loss, Namoo begins to lose himself in fantasy, dreaming of a mysterious girl named Mari who leads him to another world.

Talented director Lee Seong Kang had drawn notice previously for his animated shorts that played at many overseas festivals. With fairly simple tools, he created a multi-textured, vibrant world that is poetic in its simplicity. Apart from its remarkable imagery, the film also proves to be a touching portrait of how children deal with loss.

The voice for the Cantonese dubbed version is provided by Lee Chun-wai (My Life as McDull). Also never-before-seen footage and some funny outtake shots are included.

　　十二歲的羅武與母親及祖母同往在漁村中．羅武唯一的朋友便是同年紀的俊浩及寵物貓貓．一天，當他經過學校前面的文具店時，發現裡面擺放了一粒閃亮的神秘波子，第二天波子卻已經不見蹤影，令羅武失望萬分．羅武跟俊浩在海邊遊玩時，為跟隨貓貓而獨自跑進舊燈塔內，竟發現那粒神秘波子安放在架上‧當一陣奪目的光芒照過波子時，燈塔內幻變成一個不可思議的美麗世界。羅武連忙將這段奇遇告訴俊浩，一同進入波子世界，並邂逅美麗的白衣女孩美麗。從此，美麗和波子世界便是他們的寶藏。可惜好景不常，羅武的祖母染上重病，性命垂危，俊浩的父親亦身陷險境，同時漁村遭受風暴吹襲，羅武應該如何應付呢？

　　Namoo is a twelve-year-old boy who has lost his father and lives with his grandmother and mother. His only friends are Junho and his cat Yeo. One day when they are playing near the old lighthouse. Namoo follows the cat in and is wandering around when he discovers a mysterious marble on a shelf. At that instant a beautiful light shines through the marble, the interior of the lighthouse is suddenly transformed into a world of fantasy. Namoo is about to fall into nothingness when a girl covered in white takes hold of his hand and lifts him up. A world of beautiful light and fantasy opens up beneath them...
