A CD that draws you in and doesn't let go
| While the content of this album is undoubtedly very different from Gackt in his visual kei era, it is nevertheless a very endearing CD. The lyrics are beautifully written, and even someone who claims to be out of the "lovey-dovey" stage as I cannot help but fall in love with the music. Gackt's intention for this particular CD (I read this somewhere) is to try and carry the songs not with all the musical instruments, but solely with his own voice. In my opinion he has accomplished this through Love Letter. While listening to the CD you will experience all the emotions that is in a relationship, which ties in very well to the title of the album. Overall, even if you prefer Gackt's jrock side, I think that you should give this CD a chance. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful melodies in tracks like Kimi ni Aitakute and Piisu. If you are a Gackt fan, you should take this opportunity to appreciate a different side of him. |

Amazing artist
|
so i'm a 17 year old guy, and, for the most part, hate love ballads. That having been said, Gackt is truly an amazing artist. Every one of these songs feed like audio candy into your mind. just because they're ballads doesn't mean they're boring. take "arittake no ai de". even though the lyrics are definitly aimed towards the female audience, Gackt sings with nothing more than a croud of clapping hands and an accoustic guitar. it sounds almost like he happens to be singing in a bar, surrounded by a crowd of jolly listeners. in short, if you are a fan of either Gackt or easier listening, you should buy this album. i bought it thinking it would be rock, and i was disappointed when i found out it wasn't (the title should have been a clue) however, this album has definitely grown on me. the tunes get stuck in your head for days until, like me and my friends, you are singing 'arittake no ai de' while driving down the road. |

Extreme spiffiness
|
You know, Gackt is an amazing artist. This is coming from someone who has followed his career since the Malice Mizer days. Many may turn away, claiming that he's turned "pop", but in all reality, he's just a very versatile musician (also, in Japanese music, anything that is popular is put into the pop genre...and I don't think that anyone can deny that he's obtained quite a following). The point is, as said before, this album is a love letter, a gift to the fans...of course it's going to be a ballad album. And as far as ballad albums go, this is a great one. You see too often, especially nowadays, ballads being hollow heaps of sugary fluff. Gackt puts his soul into his music, and you can feel it. Whatever type of music he chooses to work with, he gives it his all. He's versatile, extremely talented, original, and he makes the music an extension of himself. Those are the qualities that make him a truly great artist...and "Love Letter" is a perfect example of how those qualities can come together to create something awesome. |

Love Letter
| This album is beautiful. All the songs are simply amazing. My favorite tracks are Arittake no Ai De, Kimi ni Aitakute, Dears ~UNPLUGGED~, Tea Cup, Love Letter, and etude. I'm a huge fan of Gackt's past songs, such as Lu:Na, Oasis, Dears, Doomsday, Mirror, ect...but this album is definitly worth the time, even if you're not a fan of simple ballads. In this album, Gackt's voice is like it's own instrument, and the tunes are really catchy and beautiful. If you liked THE SEVENTH NIGHT, you'll definitly love this album. |

Love Letter
| If you love Gackt for his songs, this album might not suit your taste, for it's completely different from all of his previous albums. You will find 9 out of the 10 songs slow love songs. If you love Gackt for everything, this album is for you. It's REALLY SWEET and MEANINGFUL not to mention his GREAT VOICE! I only enjoyed track 1 and 7 out of the 10 songs; I guess I will LEARN to love the rest of the album if I listen enough. The packaging of this album is also not as fansy as his previous albums (I almost thought I received a bootleg version 0.o), but it serves the theme: Love letter. All in all, SAMPLE the songs first before you buy or you may get disappointed! |
