Yoshii Rei and Imajuku Asami star in the girls love film Love My Life. Directed by Kawano Koji, this sweet youth romance is based on Yamaji Ebine's popular manga. Yoshii plays Izumiya Ichiko, a cheerful and candid 18-year-old girl who works at a CD store and studies at a language school. After the death of her mother, she was singlehandedly raised by her caring father. Meeting by chance, Ichiko falls head over heels for the beautiful Kishima Elly (Imajuku Asami). Bravely embracing her newfound feelings, she decides to introduce Elly to her surprised father, who turns out to have some secrets of his own to reveal.

 Positive, realistic story a must watch! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This realistic romantic film expresses the progressive story of the manga so well! The acting by the two leads is good with sizzling chemistry. I really like the story which reflects our lives with charm and warmth. No angsty coming-out drama, I can really relate to this film. Just an important correction. The reviewer above seems not to have watched past the first 20 mins of the movie. The writer of the original story, Yamaji Ebine, is a lesbian. Also the father reveals he is gay and so is the mother, and they STAYED gay, they never "switched". In fact Ichiko meets both her parents' LOVERS outside marriage. They only married to raise a child (and didn't have sex) which does represent the wishes yet difficulties gays and lesbians face in raising children w/o recognition in Asian countries like Japan, Singapore etc. It's a realistic, charming tale with happy endings, if you like gay films get this one.

Pretty Good, But... Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
This is a very cute story with a few twists and such in the plot. It's also very well acted. However, I feel the creator of the original series must have not been gay or known anything about it. There are a few things in the storyline that seem to scream that. Ichiko brings home her girlfriend only to find out later that day that her father is gay right from his own mouth, and that her mother was a lesbian, yet in a split moment of saying she wanted to have a baby the two people got married and had a child(Ichiko). To me, all this says is that it lacks in idea and that people can just completely switch over in a split second. To me, this story comes off as a bit of a twisted fairytale, and I do reccomend it to those who enjoy sweet stories but it can't be taken seriously in any way.
