The fourth film in the Lucky Stars series, Lucky Stars Go Places continues the popular franchise's rolly-polly throw-up of action and comedy, but with an updated cast. Released in 1986 and directed by Eric Tsang, the film follows the tried-and-true formula of predecessors Winners and Sinners, My Lucky Stars, and Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars, and even pitches in an Aces Go Places curve for good measure. Though Lucky Stars Go Places goes without Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao, and Sammo Hung (who also produces), Richard Ng, Stanley Fung, and Michael Miu return only for brief appearances, the film still manages to pack in plenty of star power with Andy Lau, Alan Tam, Kent Cheng, Karl Maka, Sylvia Chang, and Anthony Chan in the mix.
After botching up an operation, the police again turn to Kidstuff (Sammo Hung) for help investigating illicit guns trade between the yakuza and a terrorist group. Kidstuff calls up his trusty Lucky Star gang, but they're all too busy with another job so he has no choice but to round up a new gang. His new recruits: Top Dog (Alan Tam) who talks to dogs, lazy and rotund cop Fat Cat (Kent Cheng), cad Lambo (Andy Lau), and the wimpiest cops in town Long Legs (Anthony Chan) and Libby (Billy Lau).
