Mini Moni The Movie: The Great Cake Adventure is a movie staring our favorite band of little Hello! Project members, Mini Moni! All the members are present in a little adventure surrounding the Mini Moni Café where everyone comes to eat their delicious cakes! For those of you unfamiliar with the madness that is Hello! Project its basically a title that encompasses anything that has to do with the original all-girl singing group Morning Musume. Mini Moni is a subgroup of Morning Musume originally formed by Mari Yaguchi. She had the idea of forming a group that consisted of members who were 150 cm and below. So Ai Kago (148 cm), Nozomi Tsuji (149 cm), and Mika (150 cm) from Coconut Musume joined Mari to form Mini Moni! Mari Yaguchi later left to form another subgroup so Ai Takahashi (153 cm) was brought into Mini Moni and the height rule was lifted a little :) The movie stars all five of these girls and sort of shows the leaving of Mari Yaguchi and Ai Takahashis acceptance into the group. Overall, Mini Moni is an extremely colorful group that focuses mostly on childish or extremely silly songs. The Great Cake Adventure begins with the Mini Moni Café just about to celebrate their 2nd Anniversary! To commemorate this great event they make a huge castle out of cake. That night though an evil queen invades Mini Moni Café and makes the castle her new home. The queen believes that she is the most beautiful woman in the world and that delicious cakes are the enemy! So she sends out her little fairies to turn all the cakes in Mini Moni Café to stone. However, they are caught in the act by the Mini Moni crew and decide that its up to them to stop the evil queen! As you can tell by the story this movie is definitely for all ages to enjoy. The little adventure is both fun and comical to watch. All the characters have a really quirky side to them that just makes for some crazy moments. The queens little fairies a pure comical relief and never fail to please during all their little adventures around the café. And of course the Mini Moni gang is as crazy as ever often breaking out into little song numbers that have them dancing all around the screen. One definite highlight of the movie is being able to see Ai Takahashi in a cat suit which just emits enormous amounts of bliss :) The movie, much like many of Mini Monis promotional videos, is done partly in live-action, partly in animation and partly in CG. One thing is for sure though, no matter the medium this show is always colorful. The artist and costume designers were probably forced to use the brightest colors available to them. But this makes for a great atmosphere where nothing can ever be too unhappy! I think anything besides energetic happiness is probably against Mini Monis constitution. Like always though the group pulls it off perfectly making it another Mini Moni classic! If it wasnt already obvious The Great Cake Adventure is a must have for any Mini Moni fan! And for those of you who just want something light-hearted and cheerful (or have a big soft spot for all things cute) then you are going to thoroughly enjoy this little movie. People who arent going to enjoy this movie probably took one look at the screenshots and got the heck out of here so I dont think I need to address them :) Anyways, I really had a blast watching this movie, it made me an even bigger Mini Moni fan!
