本功夫片為邵氏繼《馬永貞》後，再次以上海灘黑幫爭霸仇殺為題材的電影，由張徹與鮑學禮聯合導演，張氏並與倪匡合撰劇本，力捧七十年代影壇新貴陳觀泰與井莉，另有王鍾與田青客串。陳觀泰飾的仇連環當年在上海灘，以拳頭打出天下，乃好勇鬥狠的典型人物，血腥事件轟動社會；仇為了井莉飾的交際花沈菊芳，不惜豁出性命，與著名幫會首腦之子及同謀展開連場明爭暗鬥；仇亦成為幫會爭奪地盤的嫁禍目標……
Chen Kuan-tai exuded incredible power on screen, which his directors used to great advantage in this fight-filled follow-up to the smash hit The Boxer Fom Shantung. All the lead character did was win some money gambling with a Shanghai gangleader’s playboy son, but that’s enough for the father and child to want obsessive revenge. It all culminates in an incredible climatic fight, choreographed by the legendary Liu Chia-liang and Chen Chuan, co-star of Bruce Lee’s Fist Of Fury.

charisma personified
| I thought this was just an okay movie but it exceeded my expectations. Chen Kuan Tai exuded charisma and supreme confidence in the title role. I also thought Ching Li would play her trademark damsel-in-distress role but no, here she is a highclass arrogant socialite who gradually becomes the Ching Li we know when she falls in love with the hero. Although not an awardwinning masterpiece, this movie is very entertaining filled with good performances. Apart from Chen Kuan Tai and Ching Li, Tien Ching & Chu Mu will disgust you with their portrayals of the rascals. Pick this up and I am certain you will enjoy it. |

Man of Iron
| My review of Man of Iron, for starter, the team of Chang Cheh, pao-Hsueh-Li Liu Chia Liang and, Chen KUAN-Tai are a well put team. The movie as a whole one the best kung-fu movie to come out in the seventies. Man of Iron is the movie to have in your collection, if not you are not a real kung-fu movie fan. The action is topnotch, as well as the acting, by the stars. Chen Kuan-Tai made the film come alive, in every inch of the movie. The legendary Chang Cheh and Pao-Hsueh-Li, out did themselves, just like they with The Boxer from ShanTung. If you are thinking of buying this classic Shaw Brother movie, you are making a wise choice. |
