2000年10月からTBS系列で放映された竹野内豊と中谷美紀が奏でるラブ・ストーリー。「ビューティフルライフ」を生み出したプロデューサー・植田博樹と演出家・生野慈朗が再びコンビを組んで描いた、同じ施設で育った都会暮らしのアウトローと南の島で暮らす女性の愛の物語は、1年ぶりの連ドラ出演となる竹野内と幅広い演技を見せる中谷の好演で大人気となった。
沖縄県竹富島の小さな施設で育った星野波流（愛称ハル・中谷美紀）は、海辺の民宿で働いていた。ある日、ハルは同じ施設で育った樹下涼（竹野内豊）、女優志願の赤座夏見（加藤あい）を頼って上京する。子供の頃から兄のように慕っていた涼との再会をハルは何よりも楽しみにしていた。しかし、プロボクサーの夢を捨てた涼は、他人を騙して金を稼ぐ"サイテー"な男になっていた…。
この第1巻には、TV放送分の第1話、第2話を収録。

A Different Kind of Love Story Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Frankly I am not so impressed with the script, but the acting is so good that you end up watching it several times. Takenouchi just gets better and better. Until I see his next work, this one is definitely the best.
