Azumi (Hong Kong Version)
October 11, 2008 Loved it, Watch it.In the long list of Asian popcorn movies, those films you can sit back and just enjoy, this ranks right up there.
Granted the fights might not be as technically proficient as some of the HK movies around but everything else about this film is fantastic. A hot chick wading through hordes of evildoers wielding a Samurai sword, what more could you want.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Volcano High (DTS Version) (Hong Kong Version)
October 10, 2008 Great fun I just thank jebus for this site.I just love the goofy over the top attitude of this film. Yes they don't really explain the reasons behind the pupils fighting prowess but this wasn't a big enough issue to dent my enjoyment. The action is great, the effects cool and the main characters goofiness made me smile.
I am so thankful to sites like this one that allow me to buy movies in the original language as the idea of snoop and co dubbing the voices (the american version) makes my ears bleed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Grumpy Martial Arts experts teaching super powers to a bumbling cop - Check
Storyline - err whoops.
Good fun and worth a watch Arahan is only let down by the lack of much of a story beyond the usual 'that guy is bad go kick him in the head'. If more time had been spent with the masters and more explanation given to some parts of the film I would have probably given in another star.
Very watchable if a little light on story.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(67)Our Price: US$10.99Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysOctober 10, 2008 Better than expected.Judging by the terrible, terrible Twins movies that I have seen (I'm looking at you Twins - Mission) I expected a brain numbing mess, happily I was mostly wrong.
The action is okay (although some of the wire fighting doesn't seem to connect right) and the effects are pretty fair and the fight between Donny Yen and Jackie Chan seemed like it was from a much better movie. The story doesn't really make much sense but is played with so much fun that you don't really notice and the 'Twins' are as usual as cute as a sack of puppies.
Mainstream enjoyable fluff.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Zatoichi (Regular Version) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3
(8)Our Price: US$12.49Usually ships within 7 daysOctober 10, 2008 One of those 'must watch' movies. This film easily hits that sweet spot of fun, watchability and quality.
I'm finding it hard to describe what it is I like so much about this movie as so much is worth talking about. Set in a feudal Japan with wandering Samurai but touched with just the right amount of weird. The 'fights' as they are take the form of a kind of quick sword draw that reminds me of gun fights in a Sergio Leone spaghetti western.
The only small criticism I have is that some of the characters aren't as fleshed out as I would have liked, especially the brother and sister. This is a very small issue and in no way affects how enjoyable a watch this film is.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Kung Fu Fighter (DVD) (US Version)
October 9, 2008 Made my eyes feel dirty. In this entire stinker of a movie I think only one 30 second sequence near the end brought anything other than a horrified grimace to my face. Imagine Kung Fu Hustle with all the wit, story and fun taken out and this is the dry stinking husk of a movie that would be left.
If you can't already guess I'm not a fan.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
