在第二次世界大戰前，四十年代中國發生內戰，國民黨相爭，一位生長於農村家庭的領導人物梅珍隨之而起。她的丈夫被強迫在共產黨內服兵役。自梅珍父親死後，她頓變成難民並寄居於一處由外國領事資助的教堂中。
在戰亂中，領事決定撤走婦嬬，梅珍幾經艱辛終於逃到領事的船上，但由於她沒有身份証明文件，因而受到阻難。梅珍會否經歷另一場惡夢？
Before the WWII, a civil war broke out in 1940's China. With the continued conflicts between Nationalist Party and Communist Party, a woman named May Jane, who was born in the rural family. Her husband, however, was forced to serve the Communist Army.
After the death of May Jane's father, she suddenly fell to be a refugee and lived on dependence of a church invested by a foreign consulate. During the war, the consulate had to evacuate all women church invested by a foreign consulate. During the war, the consulate had to evacuate all women and children. May Jane struggled a lot and finally managed to get on the ship of the consulate. But she did not bring any document proving her identity, so she was held up. Would May Jane therefore face another nightmare?
