Maybe Tomorrow

YesAsia Editorial Description

A-Mei Chang – the diva who defines exceptional Mandarin pop – has once again surpassed our expectations! We've heard and seen her undeniable charms on stage and now she's also showing us her talents as an album producer. From the music and lyrics to the arrangements, Maybe Tomorrow is all about A-Mei – a brand new A-Mei! She collaborates with the well-known, Singaporean producer Martin and Taiwan's famed musician Leehom Wang in her latest, charged-up album.

In her first-plugged song, Love is the Only Thing – which she wrote at the beginning of the year – A-Mei surprises her fans with her thoughtful lyrics and ear-catching rock tune. Always aiming to make affective music, A-Mei says this inspiring song surpasses her previous songs in expressing her true thoughts and feelings throughout her years as a singer. In another matured A-Mei-styled tune, Fire, she collaborates with Leehom for the first time, both working together on writing refreshing, heart-touching lyrics. A myriad of sounds, Fire blends many different classical instruments together with A-Mei's new singing techniques. Martin's sensible lyrics in the album's theme song, Maybe Tomorrow, reflects A-Mei's hope and eagerness in searching for tomorrow – a song bound to become one of her golden hits! Don't think about pre-ordering A-Mei's new album "maybe tomorrow", definitely pre-order today and listen to her fantastic music as soon as it gets released!

Professional Review of "Maybe Tomorrow"

Back to the basic: Maybe Tomorrow ~ A-Mei Chang

Having incomprehensibly become the eye of a storm between the People's Republic of China and the Taiwanese government in the recent years has left A-Mei stunnedly speechless. Lucky for her fans, A-Mei is still able to put all the non-sense disputes behind her and has just released her first Mandarin album, Maybe Tomorrow, in over a year. There are 10 brand new songs, 2 bonus tracks and 1 hidden tune in the latest album.

Maybe Tomorrow is actually the first ever album that A-Mei has released in Warner Music (TW) and sees a change in preference of song selections. Everything starts with the basic and most of the songs in this latest album are ballads and rock which A-Mei is very good at. The album is brilliant and one of her best despite the fact that there is no breath-taker like Afterall You Wanted Nothing and Listen To The Sea.

Love Is The Only Thing (Track#1), the leading track, is all about A-Mei's feelings throughout the years as a singer. The song surprises her fans with thoughtful lyrics, eye-catching rock tunes and most important of all, A-Mei's passionate and absorbing performance. Maybe Tomorrow (Track#6), the album's theme song, is also quite a great piece of song.

A-Mei collaborates with Wang LeeHom for the first time in Fire (Track#2), both working together on writing the music and lyrics though the latter is just so-so. The song blends classical funk with A-Mei's new singing techniques and creates something special. Nuo Bi Wan Qing Ge (Track#8) is the A-Mei's trademark "Mountain Song". A-Mei, as a child of native Taiwanese tribes, is especially attractive and irresistible when she sings the song of her people.

As for the rest of the album, an energetic and playful A-mei is unrolled in What Happened (Track#3) and Out-and-out Charming (Track#12). Ballads like Ni Hao Bu Hao (Track#4) and Guo Bu Qu (Track#9) also worth your time listening to.

Recommendations: Love Is The Only Thing (Track#1), Maybe Tomorrow (Track#6) and Guo Bu Qu (Track#9)

Beautiful and inspiring album Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I heard rumours of how this album lacked a lot of what people wanted from her previous albums and I totally disagree. A*Mei's just maturing and growing stronger. Though not as vocally great, for I feel her voice is somewhat straining and husky now, she still sounds great!

My favourite track has to be the title track with A*Mei showcasing her voice in one of her top notch ballads. Though slow and somewhat boring, the track does build up into one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Track 8 is a great song, with traditional sounding vocals that fit into a rock song. It does however get rather repetitive and last for a long time, but the song really shows off A*Mei's skills of singing different genres, in this case, rock.

Great album with mixed genres. Only problem is A*Mei sounding rather husky throughout the songs.

The Best Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is definitely one of her best albums! The music is not very commercialized. Songs like "Ni Hao Bu Hao", "Ye Xu Ming Tian", "Huo", and "Ai Shi Wei Yi" are definitely the hits of the album. Maybe Tomorrow is an album that has depth and filled with emotions. Way to go A*mei!!

Wonderful Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I have always loved A-mei's work as an artist and was astonished at how diverse and unique this album is. I really liked her song Fire written and produced by the wonderful Leehom Wang (whose cd others should buy as well). I love how A-mei is able to reinvent herself year by year and develop a new sound every time. Her emotional and musical growth is definitely seen throughout this album. I listen to it whenever I go to sleep and find myself humming the songs when I wake up in the morning. Definitely a major find.

Love is One and Only Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Your vocal expression in this album is truly stunning!

The two A*mei's compositions(#1, #5) are so really thoughtful and honest. Be patient and make sure you don't miss the demo! The music arrangement in there is astonishing and exciting. I'm surprised by how a piece of originally tribal-touched music - Naruwan, is treated and delivered to become such a zealous and rockish piece.

Apart from music, I always love your courage, spunk and attitude. Despite all bad press, we could still hear such impressive work from you. You go, girl!

A*mei, can't wait to see you Live in Concert!

SimPly Amei Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
ye xu ming tian portray the Amei that we know in Sisters.
She had gone thru a lot while recording this album and thus included alot of her actual feelings. All the tracks in this album is remarkably good. The power in her voice is especially evident in the hidden track where it is unplugged.
Ni Hao Bu HAo and Guo Bu Qu shows that Amei could sing ballads as powerful as her fast tracks like Huo and Fa Sheng Shen Men Shi.
This album is a must-have for fans and non-fans. If u r a music supporter, show ur support by getting this album. It wont disappoint you at all. Feeling sad? Guo Bu Qu will be the song. Feelin sexy? Take Huo then. Feelin high and wantin to dance? Fa sheng Shen Men sHi is good~ wanting to show e world ur vocaL powers? Na ru wan qing ge is great!
