YesAsia Editorial Description
With full support of Jay Chou, Jay's friends and music partners G-Power, Gary, Devon and Yuhao formed the music group Nan Quan Mama and released their first album Nan Quan Mama's Summer in 2004 which exposed their creativity through dynamic music. Now the band offers 12 power-packed songs in Set No. 2! Two new members appointed by Jay Chou, guitarist Chang Jie and vocal Lara, have just joined the group in making Set No. 2, while G-Power and Gary have stepped down from performing to concentrate on the production of this album. Profound experience from old members and fresh invocation from new ones combine to give birth to a variety of music styles!
The latest hit "Disappearance", akin to British music, brings out a feeling of loneliness. Yuhao once admitted that he had in mind a man wandering in England when he wrote the song. Jay Chou, who has always been supporting Nan Quan Mama, felt so moved when he first heard the song, so much so that he volunteered to direct the MV for Nan Quan Mama! Composed by Yuhao and lyrics written by Devon, the song has an MV featuring Chang Jie and Lara, and most important of all, directed by the Asian mega star Jay Chou!

| Nan Quan Mama saw a pretty significant improvement with the addition of Zhang Jie and Lara to the group. The first album with the old all-guy members was not bad but the vocals and overall quality of the songs were a little raw, but with great potential. This album is a step up, and I like all of the songs except for track 4 (wu dong xi). Usually I'm satisfied if I like over half of the tracks, so to say that I like ALL except for one track, I'm very happy. |

Refreshing, Different, Unique
|
This largely underrated group has almost rid itself of Jay Chou's shadow, coming out with its own individuality. Many people criticize the change in group members; I don't know the reasoning behind this change, but this album should be reviewed without relativity to the previous album, for it is in a class of its own. The female voice is refreshing amidst the familiar male voices, keeping the songs from getting too tedious. The new male member has a smooth voice, though nothing too unique. The first track Po Xiao is my personal favorite. It combines classical, rock, and rap elements, which makes it a pretty unique and exciting number. Track 5 Mu Dan Jiang is another well-executed song. Its background music is mainly comprised of Chinese instrumentals, and the accent is done well by Lara. All in all, this is an album worth buying. It is different from its predecessor and a step above a lot of the music coming out of Taiwan nowadays. |

Good things and Bad things
| Hey, treat this as an experimental album. The addition of the female voice is definitely a step up, but the new male voice is weak and ordinary. I was also dissappointed by the absence of "G-power", but good thing that he sang at least one song for the album. The songs are catchy, but not the kind of songs that will be savored. All the songs are pretty nice, especially track 1 and "Mu Dan Jiang" |

| Just try this out, and you'll love the CD. Devon and Yuhao sound good as always, and Lara and Chang Jie did a good job too. The songs are wrote by the current and past band members, while Jay Chou just helped on directing 2 MVs and the piano accompaniment of the song Mu Dan Jiang (#5), which is good actually. I recommend this CD for the old and new fans of Nan Quan Mama, and I'm sure that they'll surprise us once again for their 3rd album. |
