"Did We Really Love?" turns out to be the series to get to next.
Initially, I was hesitated or rather be pushed off by pricey dual box sets at the time. Further more, there are a number of negative reviews that made me to contemplate. Even at the release of the repackaging version, I continued to wait out until I bought it recently. Although I did not fall totally in love with the series immediately, I started to enjoy the series as I was getting through it. Im now happy with my decision because this TV series does really worth it.
The series tells a story of life in different palettes. It depicts life from various angles with the primary focus on love and family. Life is never easy. Yet, one can live a happy life by staying true to oneself and others despite the enduring hardship.
The series is made up of a great ensemble casts. My recommendation is to be patience in the first 5-10 episodes. It will get better as the story progresses. It is best to watch with your family members. Viewing this series, everyone, young and old, will be touched one way or another. The series gives the viewers a chance for reflect about life and re-examine the meaning of love and family. Though the ending is sad, but it is life itself.
Personally, Im impressed with the memorable performance by the leading actress Kim Hye-soo in the role of Professor Lee Shin-Hyung. The good chemistry between Bae Yong-jun and Kim Hye-soo is noticeable. Their love story in the series pulls viewers heart. Im now interested in watching Kim Hye-soo in other TV series. At the moment, Im looking forward for the release of her award winning performance in War of Flowers.

June 12, 2006 To love with love!Back in April 2006, I was mesmerized when I first listened to the Yeonriji: Now and Forever Original Sound Track. Although the professional critics in Korea at the time were not very fond with the movie as I read from the electronic newspaper, I believe the movie is not that bad after I saw the movie trailer. So, I anxiously waited for the DVD release. I thought that it is not a bad investment since the price is just about right with the special packaging of the movie, extras, postcards and the soundtrack. I'm glad that I made that decision because it is worth every penny.
Having seen Choi Ji-woo's other movies such as First Kiss, The Romantic President and Everybody Has Secrets; I enjoy watching Choi's Now and Forever the most. Admittedly, this is not Choi's best work. But, her performance is good. That is not to mention the well-supporting casts. The movie genre is like a cross between a romantic comedy and a melodrama. The story is predictable making the drama part is not as teary as some of Choi's TV dramas. What is important is the theme message that is being sent. The conclusion might leave some viewers heavy heart because of the uncovering at the end through the video phone message. Overall, the movie is entertaining. There are many cute and funny parts. They are not cheesy once you understand the background of the involving characters. One realizes that love is not a game and finds the truth meaning of love. The other is to love with love rather than holding back because of one's own disability. Together, they enjoy life to the fullest and love each other wholeheartedly.Did you find this review helpful? ASTA TV International Edition - March 2006
April 11, 2006 Getting in touch with K-dramas in English! When watching K-dramas, most of us yearn for extras like making of, NGs and behind-the-scenes footage. Reading ASTA TV International helps us getting in touch with K-dramas in depth to learn more about the beautiful Korean culture and language that we had fallen for through reprehensive works such as Jewel in the Palace and Winter Sonata. March 3, 2006 Quite entertaining and fun to watch!Note that this is a light comedy TV series as one of the reviewers had already stated. If you are looking for drama/action series similar to Stairway To Heaven or All In, that is not it. My personal suggestion is to view this TV series with an open mind and you will enjoy it tremendously (starting from episode no.4 since the first three episodes are introduction of characters and outlining of the story line).
With all that being said, I found Mr. Duke series offers a bit of everything, which makes it quite entertaining and fun to watch. Admittedly, the storyline is straight forward and predictable. However, there are many elements formulated together to make it enjoyable. The story depicts the life of two very different social status groups of people intertwined in an orchestrated romantic plan. For the people that got involved, they met out of necessity, but ending up finding the true meaning of love and friendship.
As if I remember correctly, Mr. Duke was produced one year or so ahead of Kim Seung-woos perfect execution of his more popular role in the Hotelier and Choi Ji-woos heartbreaking performance in Beautiful Days. Given the situation that their characters in Mr. Duke should behave, there is no explosive romantic performance like other Choi Ji-woos dramas. Nevertheless, every scene that they are together is lovingly cute and cool. After watching Kims and Chois other dramas before this, it is so refreshing to watch Kim Seung-woo as Yong-nam and Choi Ji-woo as Soo-jin. Especially, it is enjoyable to witness the playfulness and the happier sides of Choi portraying in this series. (References: Disc 2 episodes 4-6, Disc 4 episodes 10-12, and episodes 13 and 16).
Director Myong Ki-nam (played by the actor who took on the role of the chief chef in Hotelier; he is the one who played father to the character of Kim Seung-woo in that series) and photographer Chang Ho seem like sleazy type of no good people at first. But, making no mistake, they stay true to support Yong-nam (Kim Seung-woo). They use their wits to fence off and outlast the plan of the ever greedy Kang Sung Il (played by the actor who took on the role of Michael Jang in All In) and his subordinate Supervisor Cho (played by the actor who took on the role of the manager of the Food & Beverage department in Hotelier; he is also the one who organized the mud fish race in All In).
Who could forget the warm and gentle lady owner of the Soo-jins Restaurant (Soo-jins nanny when she was young) whom one can confine with? That is not to mention the kids of the delivery club for demonstrating their brotherly love for Yong-nam in the time of need. Also, the sub-plots of Assistant Park having a crush on Soo-jins uncle and the love story of Kwang-su and Eun-Ah are pleasantly memorable as well.
And finally, the airport scene is well-worth the wait
