When Yoda, the chairman and CEO of Avex Entertainment - the one responsible for making stars out of BoA, Koda Kumi, Amuro Namie, and Hamasaki Ayumi - singled out Meilin as Asia's next BoA, all eyes were on this 18-year-old new sensation. Discovered by Yoda at the tender age of 14, Meilin underwent rigorous training in preparation for her debut which came in 2007 with her first Japanese single Save Me Soul, followed by singles Innocent Girl and Candy Boy. In 2004, Meilin grabbed the spotlight when she beat out BoA to sing the theme song for the animated film Atom. Now taking a little break from J-pop to return to her home country, Meilin releases her first Korean single Meilin Story which features Oh neul baam au dte ("How About Tonight" - Track 1), an exotic hip-hop number incorporating jungle-like rhythms and infectious drumbeats.

Everyone's saying she's talented but I can't get into her! Her voice is so weak and she doesn't sing with any emotion. The only thing I like on this single is the song '오늘 밤 어때', I really love it and was angry that it was sung with such a weak voice! She's far not as good as BoA and she will never be! 'Second BoA', that's ridiculous! It's a waste of money to buy this single! |

| Everyone says "BoA copycat", but I truly see nothing alike. Meilin has adapted her own style...and I don't see what is so terrible about her. She's actually very pretty and HEALTHY too unlike the skinny twigs dancing around in Asia. I think she's refreshing and she really caught my eye during a performance of "Liar" on TV. She's sweet, simple, and cute...besides! She's new. Give her a fair chance. =/ For a debut, this is actually pretty good and catchy. Her voice is nice...needs improvement and it's far from "BoA" vocal standards...but it is nowhere near "terrible". For the cheap price and circumstances, I think this is worth buying! You go, Meilin. Don't let haters get you down! =) |

| Oh my god, her voice is sooo horrible. It lacks any depth, it lacks originality, it sounds like she is forcing a song through a voice that can't handle a song. How do I explain this... hmm. Ok, a singer is supposed to sing to entertain and bring joy to the audience. This usually involves some emotion and execution. But her singing sounds like she's reading off a piece of paper with no emotion, and no execution. Not to mention her music videos keep copying BoA. This is a failure of the Korean music department. I am giving 2 stars because Meilin looks like she trys hard. |
