Minutes to Fame was definitely the hottest TV show in Hong Kong in 2005. Inspired by the well-known US talent show American Idol which made Chinese student William Hung's name known to the world, the Hong Kong version titled Minutes to Fame, produced by TVB, turned out to be a Hong Kong TV fans' favorite. Similar to its American original, winners of this show were given a chance to dabble into showbiz in Hong Kong. Participants coming from all walks of life shared a common passion in performing. Their impressive performances became Hong Kong audience's best weekly entertainment soon after the show was launched. Memorable episodes include the six-year-old kid Mok Hoi Him singing professionally and maturely, the cute and funny Indian guy Gill Mohindepaul Singh performing in Cantonese, teenager Kwan Ho Yeung showing off his latin dance, plus many more amusing moments.

The program is hosted by two famous celebrities, namely Best Singer winner Hacken Lee and Joey Leung who has worked with him for countless shows since the 1990s, creating awesome on-screen chemistry together. Their lively and yet somewhat sarcastic style, together with the participants' entertaining performances and the appearances of different artists as guest adjudicators, all contribute to the program's success.
