河原に一匹のモグラが顔を出した。その河原に段ボール製の秘密基地を作る10歳の少年(堀ひかる)。友人と会社を立ち上げる夢を持ち、ダクト掃除で金を貯める21歳の青年(石上亮)。その上司であり、いつも落とし穴に落ちているヒロ(宮崎晋太郎)と野球をすることだけが楽しみの26歳の男(印南俊佑)。家に閉じこもる娘との接し方が分からず、コインランドリーで時間を過ごす45歳の中年(大杉漣)。駐車の違反切符を切り続ける65歳の老人(麿赤児)。彼らは何も新しいことをしないことで自分たちの世界の均衡を保っているつもりだった。しかし、ラジオから「もうすぐ地震が起こるらしい」という噂が流れ始め、何かが起こる予感がし始めた。10歳の少年は同級生の女子を基地に誘い、ヒロは喫茶店で働くカオリ(我妻三輪子)に恋をする。21歳の男は恋人の浮気を疑い、逃げるように地元の昔の彼女のもとへ行き、45歳の男は娘を外に出そうと口を開き始める。
