　　雪樓與小桃本來相愛，小桃更珠胎暗結。但雪樓老父病危，故要回鄉探老父。雪樓之兄雪天好賭成性，將父親所有財產敗去，而父親亦活活氣死，雪天更把雪樓趕出家門。小桃與父親一家因逃難而與雪樓失散。小桃到雪樓家大宅尋夫，已不知雪樓去向，而雪天為了討好債主劍秋，騙說雪樓寡情薄倖，把小桃拋棄，並勸她改嫁劍秋。雪樓被歌妓影梅收留，後更結婚誕下一女，但雪樓染上酒癖，毒打影梅，影梅本想自尋短見，卻被小桃所救；雪樓以為影梅已死，懊悔不已，憑江吊祭亡妻，後小桃與影梅出現，三人決定忘記前塵，一起生活。
