Osamu Tezuka's controversial 1970s manga MW traveled to the silver screen in 2009 with Tamaki Hiroshi and Yamada Takayuki in the leading roles. Aired on NTV less than a week before the film's opening, the prelude drama special MW Chapter 0 - Devil's Game is set a few months before the events of Osamu's original story. Sato Takeru (Meichan no Shitsuji) stars as Morioka Takashi, a young man who has just lost his job, and is desperate to get money to save the orphanage he grew up in. He begins working for the mysterious Michio Yuki to earn quick cash, and gets manipulated into a dangerous life of crime. Tamaki Hiroshi appears in the SP as antihero Michio, laying the background for his character's main story in the feature film MW. Mitsuki Tanimura (Meichan no Shitsuji) and Koide Keisuke (Rookies) also appear in supporting roles. MW Chapter 0 is directed by Iwamoto Hitoshi who also helms the movie.
