 My First Addiction to K- Dramas Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Humans,
After being bored with my crazy era of watching western movies, I decided to take a new route to other cultures that weren’t mine (Nigerian) and ended up in S. Korea... This was the 1st K-Drama I picked and decided to watch. It was a Mandarin version so the English subtitles sucked but overall translation said it was definitely something I could relate to! By the 1st episode I was hooked, and at the end of the piece I had all my sisters hooked. As some summaries state… similar to Bridget Jones’s diary (she’s my heroine) only difference is that it was longer and had more laughs.
I just got it, cannot wait till I finish classes to watch it again… I hope you enjoyed it like I did and it’s a great buy… though $60 is still painful for a college student!

I have heard so much about this drama and finally purchased it. Other dramas I've heard about were not to my liking once I finally watched them, but this one was surprising. There was alot of chemistry between Samsoon and Jin Heon. At first I thought okay there is no way they are going to put them together but to my surprise they work very well together and the series flowed fast. I was mad when it ended. It was one of the best ones I've seen so far. If your in doubt rent this or buy it. It's a great investment. The soundtrack is amazing.

This drama is a 100000000000% worth spending money on.
If you like korean dramas that have a good serious and comedic sequences this is for you! I am not kidding, its THAT GOOD!!! You will learn life lessons while you cry or laughin' HYUn BIn and KIm Sun AH are have a chemistry that carries out through the whole story. If i were you dont hesistate anymore
just buy it!!! a good drama collection MUST HAVE!!!

Exquisite Romantic Comedy Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This was the first K-drama that I watched and it got me hooked on Korean dramas forever!! It's no wonder it received the 2005 Baeksang Awards Grand Prize for TV Drama.

If you want a great captivating, romantic comedy, My Lovely Sam Soon, is the drama to watch. Kim Sam Soon , the female lead character, represents what most 30-something unmarried women face. The feeling of unattractiveness from her chubby image is so real. This leads to her constant desire to change her name to Kim Hee Jin to improve her image! She lost her boyfriend on Christmas eve and runs into the owner of a French restaurant, Hyeon Jin-Heon, in his mother's hotel. They keep crossing paths and eventually leading her to his restaurant to work as pastry chef. In addition, she agrees to become a fake girl friend to Jin Heon, in return for a monetary compensation so that she could help her mom to save their home.

The story turns when Jin Heon's old girlfriend, Yoo Hee-Jin, returns from United States and their old relationship revived. Due to her poor health, his mother objected to their continued relationship. In addition, her doctor from United States, Dr. Henry Kim [Daniel Henney] came with her. He is quietly in love with her and yet is patiently showing care and concern in Hee-Jin's fragile health without trying to intrude into her life. He is such a gentleman and so cute to watch as he shows his caring ways to Hee Jin.. It's a riot to watch him learn Korean from Sam Soon and I wished there were more of their interactions because it would be so humorous to watch to increase the comedy content of this drama! He is a real great gem to the story.

Other side comedy such as the relationship between Sam Soon's divorced sister with the Sous Chef at Jin Heon's restaurant is also delightful and amusing to watch. The theme song, Be My Love, is a real score and you will not forget it!

My Lovely Sam Soon is indeed a CHARMING LOVE COMEDY to watch. You will not regret this gem of a TV drama.

Ok,well my friends refered me to this drama a while back already but i always put it off ..end up watching other ones before it ..
i finally watched it ..and oh my goodness i cant believe i didnt see it till now! it is just so good.. never judge it by its cover ..
its not the typical dramas where you have a beautiful girl then ends up with a beautiful guy .. instead we have a ordinary chubby witty girl who is scared of aging and waiting for her prince charming ..something i think alot of women in this world can relate too ..its a little more realistic thats what i like about it ...but the thing is that this drama made me laugh throughout the whole thing from the first epi to the very last epi ..i smile even just thinking about it .. its a drama where it makes you think about the scenes over and over again in your head .. its jsut that addicting ! ..and cant forget the superb acting from the casts ..they definitely deserved all those rewards =)
"My name is kim sam soon" has became my most fave kdrama
its a must watch!

Easy to see why this one was the highest rated K-Drama of its year. Strongly cast, with a refreshing departure. 'Sam-Soon' is somewhat 'formula' and predictable in plot, but the execution and production of this tale makes it shine. Snappy dialogue plus more of a slapstick element than most dramas. This may be the most appealing drama for non-Koreans and people just starting to explore Korean dramas.

I think this t.v serie is really stupid. It's just like all Korean entertainment. There is always a love triangle, and stupidly the main girl is always running back and forth between the two guys. And something that I find really annoying not just in this t.v serie, but including ALL t.v series and movies; why are the main girls always straggling along, like they are being drag by the guys all the time. That just shows that those girls are just too stupid and naive. Kim Sam-soon is always mumbling, you can't even hear what she is trying to say; THANK GOODNESS FOR SUBTITLES!!!! Overall it was really boring it was like tug-a-war again and again; it's like get to the POINT already!!!It's like watching the same clip over and over again with just a little here and there. After the 10th episode I had it with Korean Entertainment. Oh and another thing, why does every Korean entertainment always have some kind of cancer or illness involved. I think it's about time to make it more enjoyable because it's a waste of money to buy a movie that is similar to all your other movies as well. The movie and t.v industries should really come up with something new because it's getting OLD!!!!

I love My Lovely Kim Sam Soon! It's my favorite on par with My Girl. Kim Sam Soon is a different type of heroine rather than the normal bouncy young girl. The story line is completely different from others and it strays from the normal "lovers square." The cast also performed very well. I can't wait to purchase the Kim Sam Soon Ultimate Collection and I know I won't regret it. It'll be worth every single cent. I am very much anticipating on the second season.

I watched "My Lovely Sam-Soon" for the first time last autumn and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I gobbled it up, watching the entire series in only a couple days. I just viewed it again for a second time and enjoyed it even more. I know that in the future I will return again and again to this series. It really is that good!

What makes this series work so well is the superb casting. All of the actors, even the ones in relatively minor parts, give fine performances perfectly tuned to their roles. Of course, the best performance of all is Kim Soon Ah as Kim Sam-Soon. Seldom do we have a chance to see an acting performance as brave, as hilarious, and as moving as Miss Kim delivers here.

Very, very highly recommended.

I totally bought this based on reviews, they were all positive, so I was hoping for the best. I was not disappointed. Sam Soon, was wonderful. Kim Sun Ah was so funny, and I loved that she's tough and stands up for herself, it urks me so much to watch women in the sweet, never say a bad thing ever roles, over an over again. Her strength, sense of self, and perserverence was so refreshing. I definitely reccommend this to other strong women looking for a character somewhat representative of themselves. Oh and that Daniel Henney, he was surprisingly good!! So natural, and of course gorgeous! A must watch! I was slightly annoyed with the male lead, he was good in his role but geez, the way it was written, I wanted to smack the crap out of him a few times, which I guess means he did a good job acting. I am already watching it again - I just finished it last week.
