Pretty good drama Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
i watched kim sam soon because of all the raving reviews here at yesasia.. and boy was i glad! Lots of drama, great performances by all the actors/actresses all round, sweet ending. There were so many good points about this drama that i can't describe, it hooks and reels you in, excellent ost, fresh acting, energising script. i think it was sentimental, and altho it dragged in some parts i didn't mind because they were sweet and supposed to slow down the audience - kinda like the director saying 'let this part sink in..' which gives the story more developed siginificance. MNIKSS beats FH anyday! 4.5 stars

I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY LOVELY SAM SOON! It is the BEST Korean TV drama that I have watched up to now. Kim Sun Ah and Hyun Bin are so cute, they make such a great looking couple. (Wish they were are couple in real life.)

My Lovely Sam Soon most definitely should not be compared to Bridget Jones (that American-Brit movie which I don't even care for). My Lovely Sam Soon is original, brilliant, funny, witty, charming, and very passionate about being honest with oneself and with others. Kim Sam Soon is a young lady who is 29 years old and is about to reach her 30th birthday. She has a dream to become a well-known pastry chef, known for her pastries that are made with love, care and hard labor, and known for her original recipes and original boxes. She comes back to Korea to try to save her relationship. She goes to a classy hotel and finds her boyfriend going into a room with a lady. Next thing you know, he is downstairs in the hotel and breaks up with her. She ends up crying in the bathroom... to make matters worse... it is the men's bathroom. As if it wasn't bad enough that she quit her job in France and then to get dumped by her cheating boyfriend. This is what we see in the beginning.

I love Kim Sam Soon's ideas and thoughts about life. She is very down-to-earth and has a very realistic view about herself. She knows that she is not perfect and she accepts that. She tries her best in all aspects of life and she does not give up too easily. Even though she is a very gutsy young lady with a very direct-in-your-face honest and straightforward personality, she has a good heart and cares about other people. She tries not to hurt anyone even when it seems like everyone around her is hurting her.

My Lovely Sam Soon is a great drama that will make you laugh and laugh and laugh and sometimes cry a bit. It definitely deserved the Best Drama Award that it won in 2005.

THIS IS THE BEST KOREAN DRAMA EVER!!!!!
The moment I saw the first episode I knew i would fall inlove with the show.Kim Sun Ah and Hyun Bin are perfect together.They have such a good chemistry they are my favorite korean actor and actress.I already have a copy but i'm going to buy a new one just incase mine gets scratch from too much watching hehehe. I really recommend this to everyone it's a MUST SEE,MUST HAVE!!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT AND MAKE ALL GIDDY INSIDE =) =) =) TRUST ME YOU WON'T REGRET.

It is easy to understand why this was the number one Korean TV drama in 2005. It has the unique combination of comedy and a serious love story, with a main character who could easily represent the common man/woman. She is average looking with an average body (on the plump side), instead of the Hollywood perfection that is so mainstream in todays media. In fact if we had more women in leading roles, such as represented by Kim Sam-soon, there would most likely be fewer cases of eating disorders among the female population. Perhaps men would start to look at the heart of a woman instead of the naked flesh that is mainly promoted in today's movies and television. Perhaps we all would begin judging individuals by their hearts instead of the way they look.
Samsoon is a quirky character wtht a heart that yearns to love and be loved. We start out sympathizing with her being dumped by her cheating boyfriend on Christmas eve. She inadvertantly ends up crying in the stall of the mens bathroom where she first meets Jin-heon, her prince charming. I must admit that when I first looked at these two they seemed so mismatched. Being trained by the stereotypical Hollywood production I felt that there wasn't anyway possible for her to win over Jin-heon, that he would be unable to love such an ordinary person. And when Hee-jin, Jin-heon's ex-girlfriend, appears, I felt that here was the answer, here was the princess for prince charming. But when, near the end of the series, I found myself rooting for Sam-soon I realized that she too is a princess!
Another thing enjoyable about this drama is the lack of an evil villian that is the mainstay of most of the popular K-dramas today. Instead we see a reflection of people we might meet on any given day in any given life. People who are a just trying to get by, wanting to love and be loved during this short time we have before leaving the planet.

this is a great k-drama! the storyline is so wonderful...an older, overweighted woman who found prince charming...what's different about this series is that you can't help falling in love with the antagonists as well as the hero and heroine....kim sun ah is great in her role, i can't believe she actually gained weight just for the role...and hyun bin look as handsome as ever...the addition of daniel and ryeo-won were also a big plus to the drama...their chemistry was undeniable....

Definitely Not Bridget Jones! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
My Lovely Sam-Soon is a very entertaining series. The premise: older, overweight, outspoken woman falls for a cranky, younger man is new & delightful.

The script is clever and doesn't drag, even with the usual cliches: contract dating, & serious disease. But what makes the series so special is the exceptional work of the cast: especially Kim Sun-A who makes Kim Sam-Soon sparkle.

Kim Sun-A is impressive & completely believable. I empathized with her situations: whether crying in the men's room, 'speaking English' to Henry, interacting with her sister, or even having a conversation with her deceased father.

The series has many great moments including Sam-Soon's climb up Halla Mountain (& the surprise waiting for her there), the karaoke night at her home, and her dates with 'suitor number 3'.

Sam-Soon & Hyun Jin-Heon (Hyeon Bin) interact well together. These two are surrounded by Henry (Daniel Henney), the patient American doctor; Yoo Hee-Jin (Jeong Ryeo-Won) Jin-Heon's impossible to dislike current (yet former) girlfriend; Yi-Young (Lee Ah-Hyeon) Sam-Soon's irrepressible sister.

'My Lovely Sam-Soon' is a heart-warming and heartfelt love story.

Just finished watching the show. I really enjoyed the show. I have never laughed so much until I actually watched the show. Everyone in the show was great. I am just sorry that the show had to end. That's alright, because I bought the video. Can't wait to get it and watch it again. So far, I have watched 9 or 10 shows. Every one of them is great.

I have read many reviews that compare this drama to Bridget Jones's Diary and I don't understand why. I actually found the character Bridget to be annoying.

My Lovely Sam-soon, however, is such a fabulous production overall. The story flowed so well. The directing, the script, the acting, the timing and the rhythm of the delivery by all of the major actors.....just simply brilliant. I really feel for the reviewers who were tortured in having to wait a whole week to see the next episode. Waiting 24 hours for me was excrutiating enough! Of course, this series couldn't escape some traditional cheesy drama moments, but all of the important scenes were produced so well, some very humorously. I believe this is largely due to great performances displayed by the main actors. They successfully put life into these characters. It is the most believable, and the most realistic K-drama I have seen. Many people say that Sam-soon resembles numerous average women, and that women don't have to be model-slim to find a potential true love. Although this is certainly true, I felt that the message was more in the fact that love is all about being able to communicate with each other. Being able to express not only love, but discontent, and later showing understanding without blaming each other is what deepens love. Sam-soon was always true to herself. I love how the characters grew as the series progressed. I was truly impressed. You will be, too.

Since I started watching the AZN Network Channel. I have truly enjoyed watching the Korean Dramas and each new show just gets better and better. But, I haven't laughed soo much until this Romance Comedy Drama (My Lovely Samsoon). The characters are great and every episode cracks me up or makes me cry. She is funnier than Bridget Jones (Just my opinion of course). The actress that plays Kim Samsoon is totally great playing this role and so are the other actors as well. Great Job to all the actors/actresses in this Romance Comedy Drama. I highly recommend that it is a fun and loving movie to watch.

I'm not even Korean....but, I love the plots of all the movies that I have watched so far and I love the language just as much. Hats off to My Lovely Samsoon. It's a must see.
