YesAsia Editorial Description

Even though she got seriously hurt practicing some impossible ballet routines for her last album Butterfly, Jolin Tsai seeks to one-up herself this summer with the stylish and challenging "voguing" dance! Enlisting the services of world-renowned choreographers Benny Ninja (posing instructor on America's Next Top Model) and Ahn Hyung Suk (Dong Bang Shin Ki's dance teacher), the Mando-pop diva has more amazing dance moves in store for her 2010 album Myself. This time, Jolin joined in the album's production, and the first plug "Honey Trap", "With Immediate Effect", and "Small Wound" are among the hot new singles.

Treat “Yourself” to Jolin’s great new album! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
As Agent J left the auditorium in 2006 to metamorphosis into “Butterfly Jolin” (who must have been knackered after those overkill dancing sessions on the Butterfly project), “Myself” crystallizes Jolin’s image of yore as the ghost daughter of Agent J (via angelic transmutation from Jolin’s butterfly chrysalis effect) bringing another beautiful album of good solid dance songs and ballads. Okay, that’s looking into Jolin’s pop image a bit much, but its nice to see Jolin looking more like the “Myself” you’d expect; strong, sassy, mildly punky and a bit of panther. But image aside, Jolin’s “Myself” certainly has good songs and compliments the former “Butterfly” by sporting an equally balanced set of richly produced dance/ballad songs with beautiful hooks and rhythms. Jolin’s vocal’s trade marking again her tender/childlike concern about real love. For me the very re-playable “Love Player” got my immediate attention, with its dreamy evocative electronic beat and very strong hook and certainly an excellent emo-dance song. Another was “Party Star”, a techno/rock rhythmic that also pulses to a nice strong hook and the beguiling “Black-haired Beautiful Girl” (I’m sure the Human League were looking for the Black Haired Girls once) having a mixed bag of indie synth pop, R&B mid beat is a nice springy and captivating song. But aside to dance, mid tempo ballad “Nothing Left to Say” is a beautiful stay-in-the-mind passion rhythmic and no doubt the extremely sad ballad “Let’s Break Up”, is so emo-inducing you wouldn’t want to play it eating a box of chocolates all alone after breaking up with someone (no-no-no D:). Great song though!

“Real Man” (track from Butterfly Jolin) territory is revisited by “Macho Babe” with its sharp disco techno rhythm and blues hook and the cha-cha “Butterflies in my Stomach” gives Jolin a ‘nice n cute’ shuffle beat. “Take Immediate Action” I like, too, by its light rock/pop upbeat/bouncy feel. But all songs on “Myself” can alternate in preference to each mood or experience and a favourite is certainly subjective. All songs are good! “Myself” also has numerous ‘break’ interludes of dialogue bridging some songs and themes. Yes, another very good Jolin album with that special Jolin feel you’d expect. Various versions available, (you could have you’re own trinket shop of Jolin goodies :D), but I also got the signed Jolin mix version, too - so well pleased there (thank you missy Jolin <3). If you love “Butterfly” you’ll love “Myself”.

Brilliant Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Yet another great pop album from Jolin and possibly one of the best Mandarin pop CDs in 2010. There`s lots to enjoy here, including the superb 'Nothing left to say', which is the stand out track.

Much better than her previous CD 'Butterfly'.

Dance with Jolin, Don't look back Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Yeah!
This is one of her best albums. This time Jolin works really hard with the producers and the rest of the team from different departments to do a great album.
The songs are all originals, good new if we talk about taiwanese pop/idol music and the MV are amazing.
She practiced different dance style as she usually do. The lyrics are matured in some songs and enjoyable in others.
My favourite tracks are: Love Player, Black-haire Beautiful Girl, Nothing Left To Say and Let's Break Up. And the best MV is Honey Trap, it was made by U-Go-Girl's MV Director, and yep, it looks like a kpop MV, amazing! *-*
Can't wait to recive my order, I saw photos of the package and is so cool.
Good job Jolin, and good luck to your 2010 Myself Tour, I will support you always.

Myself Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This album is one of Jolin's best work to date. This time around, Jolin took control of creating this entire project. She new exactly what she wanted on this album, and worked hard to put this together. As a result, this album turned out to be one her best. The uptempo tracks on here are very well thought-out production wise. Lyrically, the songs are also very well written for this type pf genre of music, and Jolin sounds great as usual. I would really wish this album included a DVD, because Joiln can really pull off some incredible dance moves that alot of artist cannot. There is a reason for people hailing Jolin as the Britney Spears of Taiwan. All in all, wonderful album.
