NANA is the story of two girls, Nana Komatsu and Nana Osaki, who find friendship and resolve after meeting on a Tokyo-bound train. Nana K (also called "Hachi") is the cute, demure one who travels to Tokyo to follow the boy of her dreams, while the gothic Nana O seeks fame and fortune as a rock star. 1 序章．奈奈與娜娜
小松奈奈為了跟隨在東京考上大學的男友，搭上新幹線列車前往東京。在列車上小松奈奈和大崎娜娜相遇了。兩人的個性雖然相反，但彼此卻是意氣相投。之後，奈奈在尋找住處時，意外的和娜娜再次見面。兩人一起租下了一所公寓的 707 號房，開始了共同生活。

2 戀愛？友情？奈奈與章司
奈奈生長在一個極普通家庭，是三姊妹中的次女。淳子則是奈奈的高中同學，是非常要好的朋友。奈奈的高中生活可以說是以戀愛開始，也以戀愛結束。因失戀而傷心的奈奈，和淳子一起進了當地的美術專門學校。然而在專門學校裡，奈奈再次一見鐘情，對象則是淳子中學時的朋友－－章司。

3 奈奈與章司，戀情的去向
暑假來臨，奈奈、章司、淳子和京助四人到海邊旅行，到了晚上，奈奈將房間讓給淳子和京助，自己和章司同睡一間，堅守淳子的建議先從朋友做起，因而兩人平安無事地度過一晚。在旅途中，奈奈得知章司三人都要報考東京的美術大學，為了能和三人在一起，她也下決心努力 K 書卻還是落榜，同樣落榜並決定在東京念補習班準備明年重考的章司，勸奈奈留在家鄉升學，但奈奈執意要待在東京，章司因而惱怒，把奈奈丟在東京街頭…

4 奈奈的戀愛 ‧ 娜娜的夢想
章司回到街上找到奈奈，兩人回旅館溝通後，奈奈決定在家鄉賺錢，等一年後章司考上大學便上東京生活，兩人於是展開遠距離戀愛。

由高中中輟的娜娜和蓮、阿泰、伸夫等人組成的樂團所開的演唱會順利成功，主唱娜娜更擁有廣大歌迷。娜娜和蓮的相識，是因為高中同學伸夫的介紹，原本娜娜對於蓮以自己的可憐身世博取同情感到不屑，但當他看到站在舞台上的蓮，便深深被吸引…。但是，兩年多的戀情就在演唱會結束這天晚上，因為蓮告知娜娜要去東京而產生變數…
