    February 8, 2009 Painful. Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
I had heard a lot of good things about Garnet Crow, so I picked up this single. Very regretful I did so, while the instrumentals were lovely and I rather actually liked listening to the "karaoke" vocal-less piece, the vocalist tried so hard to sing deeper than her range (I don't think that Johnny Cash could have gone as deep as she was trying for). In the brief, relief-filled moments she actually went into her range she was off-key. I will not be listening to Garnet Crow again.

February 8, 2009 Not My Favourite Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Normally, one of the things I adore about Gackt music is the rich complex sound that he always has and the rarity of his English cropping up--a personal pet-peeve of mine in the Japanese music industry. The fact that only one guitarist was used and that the entirety of the song was digitally mixed was a bit of a let-down for me, as the man is my musical arranging hero. However, he outdid himself vocally, he was all over the place register-wise and the layering and effects were very lovely and haunting. However, I would call Ghost one of his more forgettable songs when compared to pieces like "Last Song" and "Returner"
Moving onto Blue Lagoon, in summary: I loved it. Even though the instrumentals were done with the same technique as the titular single, it was so much more three-dimensional and complex. The lyrics were nothing short of haunting. I recommend getting the single, if only for the sake of the B-Side.

February 8, 2009 Strange, But Interesting Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
This was the first Japanese book I successfully finished, much less a biography. As a piece of literature, it was very strangely written, there wasn't a lot of organization to the book it seemed like he was just jotting down thoughts and putting them together whenever he had time.
I'm not entirely sure about whether I would call everything he talked about 100 percent valid. Some of it he repeated and contradicted himself about later, but it may have just been my poor reading skills. If certain parts were untrue, I'd probably be a little relieved, otherwise I question the poor man's sanity. I personally thought the bit of about his creative process was largely embellished.
It seemed like he was trying to do too many things with the book, it was part expose (Malice Mizer), part auto-biographical and part self-help book.
He did have some interesting bits of wisdom here and there and I agreed with him on quite a few philosophical stand-points. Overall it was a worthwhile read, it showed quite a few of his flaws in greater depth (Lord help that man and his egotistical pursuit of perfection), and gave some insight on things that had been puzzling his fans for the past few years (again, I cite Malice Mizer). I'd recommend it to a hardcore fan, but not to a casual reader.
