December 8, 2005 Enjoyable just don't expect a historical epic. Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This is a series of a unique kind with Louis Koo going back in time to watch the coronation of Qin ShiHuang. Something goes wrong and he has ended up back in time 2 years earlier.
Naturally alot of things go wrong as he tries means and ways to help the Ying Zheng attain the throne.
Funny moments are mostly in the front due to louis's need to adjust between the different time frames.
There are also alot of 'explanations' as to why certain historical events take place, though i find them too flaky..
Enjoyable show, just that I wont be watching it more than once.

December 8, 2005 classic love story Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Hong Niang is basically the main character in this show and she is a maid that is loyal to her mistress. Her mistress is supposedly very beautiful and falls in love with a young man - Alec Su.
Their relationship is forbidden - cant remember why - but Hong Niang tries means and ways to help her mistress. However, her mistress mistakens her kind intentions. Upon realizing her mistake, the mistress finally gets together with her lover. Hong Niang is released from servanthood and allowed to return to her hometown.
Overall, quite nice. First time watching something so ancient and found it enjoyable But would only recommend if u are either a die hard fan of alec su - like me, or a big fan of old movies.

  • December 8, 2005 totally rawks~! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
i thot that alec was already super funny as the judge in Pai An Jing Qi and it seems that he has outdone himself and proven to be a comedic as well as serious actor as well.
Similarities between that of Princess Huai Yu are very distinct from the beginning but that should not stop u from enjoying the characters and the story.
There are some different characters here noticibly the evil cocubine played by Florence Tan - she manages to carry it off mostly although she does sometime end up more whiny that a horse~!
Acting wise - jang nara is ok, abit hard for viewers to get her full emotion since she's dubbed and umm speaks korean, but a valiant attempt.
Alec su is great and funny as the Emperor, managing to balance the serious with the humorous - results are hilarious.
Overall the story plot is not much of an award winning one but its worthwhile your time if u want a drama that provides great laughs and decent drama all rolled into one~!
    *For alec fans - IT'S A MUST-BUY~!*

November 3, 2005 she can sing! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
When i first saw raine on tv, she was acting in meteor garden as Barbie Hsu's shan cai's best friend. At that time i didnt really have an impression of her just that she was kinda cute. Now look at her, she has blossomed and has even cut her own album which is wildly successful in Taiwan.
I love this album for her slow songs like Ai Mei, Li Xiang Qing Ren. Her fast songs are ok, though they tend to be too act cute - something which i honestly do not like and hope that she will grow out of it.
But one thing i must salute her is her frankness in admitting that she does act cute - but i hope that she does not follow cyndi wang's footsteps and nvr leave her childish image behind! All the best Raine, you have a bright future ahead of u~!

November 3, 2005 Great new stuff Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
like my other asian fav singer-actor Alec Su(!!!), Vicki has taken on a whole new stuff as she tries to break away from her XiaoYanZi image and she does so with incredible success. This album has made the world sit up and recognise Vicki not only as a talented actress but a mature and excellent singer as well. Vicki's voice is very sweet and nice so it is never jarring on the ears and she reaches high notes with ease, thus making both fast and slow tracks enjoyable. One of the best showcase of her beautiful voice has to be last track 'Tian Shi Zhi Ming' or "Name of An Angel'. It is a very beautiful track.
A friend of mine was pleasantly surprise by Vicki's new songs as they were no longer those ancient sounding tunes like those she used to sing and her voice and style have matured greatly.
Introducing the world to the Brand New Vicki Zhao!

November 3, 2005 not a single moment of disappointment Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
having been a loyal tv fan of vicki's series as well as a new fan of her music after listening to the fantastic Piao, i was looking forward to what Vicki had to offer and boy was i not disappointed..
Double i guess represents the contrasting styles that she has adopted here - the slow melodious love songs wherein her smooth voice blends in as well as the fast paced disco-like songs that make you want to stand up and dance.
Vicki's voice is unique, it has a child-like innocence to it, and where she once used it to promote a cute image of Xiaoyanzi, she now uses it effortlessly to songs that show of her melodious and soothing voice. Her slow love songs are similar to that in Piao and it is recommendable to just lie down in bed and soak in the music. As for her fast songs, they are comparable to Sammi Cheng's i daresay, except maybe they are not so heavily techno-lised.
Overall a great album, i must add that i love het fast-paced tracks the most and they are constantly on repeat mode in my player.

November 3, 2005 Nice songs Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
this sdtrk is relatively nice..it has mainly 5 songs, 2 by Victor Chen - one being the main theme, 2 songs by Jill Hsu - one being the ending theme as well as one by Fan Wei Qi. the rest are instrumental themes of the main songs.
I think the best song in this album is certainly Jill's 'Cuo Wu De Xiang Yu' or loosely translated as 'Wrongful Meeting'. Its a love song that is befitting the storyline of the show.
I wished however they had incorporated more songs here instead of just throwing in the instrumental versions of the songs.
But overall, the excellent songs make this sdtrack worth buying :)

September 27, 2005 a nicky wu show of a different sort Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
set in a totally different time period from that that i have seen in nicky's other series, this series gives the viewer a totally different feel..though not altogether because the whole fight to between the pugilist sects still remains and remains confusing too..
initially i was hesistant about whether i shd watch this series cos it didnt look as exciting or colourful as the other nicky's series ive watched..but i guess i decided to try it out and found myself immersed in the unlikely beauty of the desert.
Theresa Lee plays Nicky's main love interest and between them they have an intriguing relationship. As always Nicky's the eye candy and a whole host of other girls fall for him.
Fight scenes were well cheorographed though i wished the director didnt keep alowing them down.
Overall, I enjoyed this very much and would recommend those who still love wuxia stories but are tired of the typical setting and background.

September 22, 2005 i only enjoyed this series because of the leads... Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
truth be truth if not for nicky wu and zhao wei there is no way i would ever watch this series. although at the start it was fun to watch nicky and zhao wei's love blossom it just loses its appeal halfway as it gets confusing regarding all the fights between the japanese and the imperial palace.
Overall i didnt really enjoy the storyline that much and unless you are interested in all the 'jiang hu en yuan' or are a fan of the main actors dont bother to get it.

Get this if u are any of the following:
    1) Fan of Alec Su
    2) Fan of Jimmy Lin
    3) Fan of Theresa Lee
    4) Fan of Vivain Chen De Rong

I enjoyed it mainly because i liked alec su and also thought jimmy lin was not a bad watch but overall although it is a nice adaptation of the classic it was abit too long and some parts were just skippable - everytime i watch them i would fast forward.
The effects were ok not that great and sometimes there tends to be a great mess of things as there are many characters here and there.
Central theme that runs through is love and hatred.
Overall enjoyable but as usual china productions tend to abit to tiresome.

    September 22, 2005 A Hit~! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
when this series first came out, it captured the hearts of audiences with the heart-warming performances from the main leads especially Zhao Wei and Ruby Lin.
A story of a young girl who gets mistaken as a princess and ends up creating a blunder in almost everything possible, the storyline is as entertaining as it is unbelievable.
I enjoy the performances from the 4 leads as well as the two love stories that unfold, stories of undying love forged in most unlikely circumstances.
However, the series would only cater to people who are able to enjoy Qiong Yao's usual style or else they might find it a tad too draggy and OTT.
But overall this drama is fun and light-hearted and introduced the world to Zhao Wei, Ruby Lin and Alec Su!

September 22, 2005 draggy but still as fun Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Double the length doesnt mean double the fun. Although the characters are the same and the plot delves deeper and more in detail into the main love relationships in the story, it tends to be abit too much. Qiong Yao is already known for her dragginess and now adding double the disc just tends to make it slightly less bearable.
But i stil enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and Zhao Wei as XiaoYanZi still brings crazy moments.
Get this if u enjoyed the first one and do not mind putting up with more OTT Qiong Yao style romance.

September 22, 2005 second collaboration btw Chae Rim and Alec Su stil Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is the second collaboration for taiwanese hunk Alec Su and korean babe Chae Rim. Although they do haf good chemistry, Alec seems to fare better as the 4th brother - he manages to pull off very poignant scenes where his expressions and mannerisms encapsulate the struggles that his character goes through. This is the maiden effort of Chae Rim in an ancient series and that could explain for abit of the awkwardness. Also the dubbing for ChaeRim's character was much much much better in Aegan sea unlike her where it just sounds totally off. Nonetheless get this drama if you not only want to enjoy a nice romance story but also witness the heart-breaking loyalty of the Yang Clan that goes unappreciated and finally even brings death and destruction to their family. You will lvoe and hate the characters in this series. This series is based loosely on true happenings.

September 22, 2005 wonderful wonderful Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Wonder how Taiwan fares in its adaptation of the timeless wuxia classic? Wonderfully! I enjoyed this series from start to end, and if books can be page-turners, this series is an disc-changer!
Although Alec su is abit awkard with his beard and all as Zhang Cuishan, he fares incredibly well as Zhang Wuji and manages to exude the silent charm of an unlikely hero and saviour of the pugilist world.
Another enjoyable aspect of the show is the infamous 4 way romance between Zhang Wuji, Zhao Min, Zhou Zhiruo, Zhao-Er and his cousin YinLi. Alec manages to create chemistry of varying degrees with each of these beautiful actresses. Gao Yuan Yuan and Alyssia Chia are the main girls that vie for Zhang Wuji's affections. Alyssia is perfect as the cute and lovable Zhao Min while Gao Yuan Yuan;s beauty totally captures the presence of Zhou Zhiruo.
Thoroughly enjoyable, especially love the chemistry between Alyssia and Alec~!

September 22, 2005 see alec su at his wittiest~! Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
after Princess Returning Pearl can alec su be as witty and comical as before? This series shows alec su as a witty and chivalrous magistrate whose just nature is comparable to the legendary Justice Bao.
Although it teneds to be draggy - 44 discs with only three miserable cases, the cases involve many twists and unlikely turns that make it exciting and unpredictable. There is also a minor love story between Alec Su's character and Rebecca Wang Yan's female heroine but that takes a back seat after the first story. Overall, the interesting plots of each story makes up for some of the annoying characters that appear.

September 22, 2005 totally taken in by the music Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
wats a great series without a great soundtrack. the songs in this soundtrack are very meaningful, each showing different facets of the different characters their different experiences in loving.
the music is nice and pleasant and compliments well with the show. The main title song and the ending them were sung by Alec Su - very apt since he is the main actor in the drama so it makes it even more meaningful.
One of my favourite instrumental tracks is the 12th one - that piece always plays in the background whenever Alec's and CR's character are going through their most heart-wrenching moments. Whenever i listen to it all those sad memories come back to mind and it just breaks your heart.
A pity though they didnt have the piano piece that was played in the show.

    September 22, 2005 i love this series~! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
although it tends to be draggy (40 eps) the pretty cast makes up for it. A collaboration between Taiwan actors(Alec Su - looks very good here i must say and Peter Ho) and Korean actress Chae Rim and somemore other mainlan actors, this drama explores the pain of loving someone. The center theme is Plato's Eternity - loving someone without expecting anything in return even if it means bringing only hurt to youself. Film partially in Greece near the Aegean Sea, the director has managed to capture the beauty of Greece which compliments the beautiful love story that unfolds.
Beautiful scenes and beautiful music and beautiful people - what else can one ask for?
