September 28, 2007 SHOULD BE RATED R++++++ or X-If YesAsia's product description would have been accurate about the graphic depravity shown in this film (both sexual and violent), I would never have purchased it. For all the glorious words and awards, I found NOTHING redeeming about it. The director's talent is overshadowed by his content. December 18, 2006 AS GOOD AS THEY GET...As someone reviewed earlier, the first episode left me uncertain about the feel of this drama. Any doubt was quickly disspelled. Rondo is the best drama I've seen in years. Lots of fast paced action without gratuitous gore; a plot that leaves your mouth hanging open in surprise and disbelief consistently throughout and to the end; a romance that fires the imagination without any sappiness or explicit scenes.
Cast was right on the money. Takenouchi Yutaka was great, as usual. Choi Ji-woo fit the bill and carried off the Korean/Japanese juggling act well. A high point was the award-winning Korean actor Shin Hyun Joon.
One word of warning.... This is what I would call an "audience participation" drama. It is so fast paced and involved both in the style of filming and the story line, that it requires mental effort to catch it all and (for me) to fully understand each twist and turn. Personally, I have watched each episode at least three times (others more). I'm not sure if this would apply to those who understand Japanese... a major factor may be that I rely on English subtitles and attention is divided between reading and watching the action on the screen.Did you find this review helpful? April 10, 2006 Laughing Turned to Affection....Never was there a K-drama with more weird, crazy, off-the-wall characters! I was stunned at how ridiculous this drama seemed. The story was OK, but the acting and characters.... LOL! It was unbelievable to me. Then...THE MIRACLE...! Who knows why, but about 3/4 of the way through, I actually began to enjoy this drama and get a kick out of the whacky characters. The young doctor....(how could anybody be such a childish doctor?!)... suddenly grabbed my affection and I enjoyed watching him the rest of the drama. ...As for the leading actress...I liked her in this role and thought she did a great job. The biggest problem with her, in my opinion, was the make-up. She is dark skinned and they slapped a bunch of white face foundation on her...which would have been okay... except the darkness of her skin always showed around her eyes and nose, making her look just awful, as though she were coming off a drunk or drug binge. (The older brother was just plain boring.) ... Loved the supporting cast...some really good actors there, even though their characters made me think perhaps they were released from the local insane asylum just a little too soon... :D ...Still, I will watch this drama a second time, now that I have developed an attachment to this truly weird drama...to see how it strikes me the second time around. September 8, 2005 Excellent DramaFascinating, engrossing script...fast moving, never boring. Balanced mix of action, intrigue, and romance. Film direction and production are first rate. Good variety of well-developed characters, portrayed by both top notch veteran actors and talented younger ones. Appeals equally to men and women.
Um Tae Ung (Uhm Tae-woong) finally has a vehicle in which to display his wide range of acting ability. He‛s a breath of fresh air, able to effectively...and creatively...portray not only identical twins with significantly different personalities, but also a third character consisting of a blend of the two....a fresh, believable performance.
English subtitles are a must! I am illiterate in Korean but still watch some dramas without subtitles, as they are usually rather easy to figure out. Not Resurrection. The story line is complex and fast moving--English subtitling is a must.
There is definitely a market for Resurrection collectibles, too. The gold and blue dice sets, in particular, would be a winner. I do not purchase many DVD sets; Resurrection is on my "Must Have" list.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
