隣国の侵略に苦しむ房州館山の城主・里見義実は、飼い犬・八房に戯れの約束をする。それは「敵の大将の首を持って来たら我が娘・伏姫をやる」というもの。ところが実は八房は怨霊に取り憑かれた犬で、その夜本当に敵将の首を咥えて帰って来てしまう。そのため伏姫は八房と共に城を出てひっそりと暮らし始めることに。義実らはそんな姫を助けようと彼らの住む房州富山にやって来るが…。
