Ninja Wars (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3

Heads roll, blood spills, and sorcery and supernatural fancies reign supreme in the 1982 epic fantasy Ninja Wars. Directed by Saito Mitsumasa (G.I. Samurai), Ninja Wars is adapted from a Yamada Kazetaro work, and contrary to what one may expect from the title, does not involve ninjas fighting each other. Instead, the film features a lot of fighting between a ninja and some immensely evil and powerful sorcery. Set in Japan's warring era, Ninja Wars mixes real-life historical figures and magical characters for a seriously outlandish story full of creative imagery, gratuitously vivid details, and bizarre twists and turns. The film's stars, a young Sanada Hiroyuki (Twilight Samurai) and the legendary Sonny Chiba, help ground the story with convincing performances.

According to a prophesy, he who has the love of Ukyo (Watanabe Noriko) will rule the land, and ruthless warlord Donjo (Nakao Akira) is determined to win both power and the beautiful princess. Donjo enlists the aid of a sorcerer and some evil monks, and captures Ukyo's twin sister Kagaribi (also Watanabe Noriko) to use her tears to conjure a love potion. Kagariba's lover Jotaro (Sanada Hiroyuki), a young and upright ninja, is unable to save her in time, but vows to avenge her death and rescue Ukyo. Along with master swordsman Yagyu Muneyoshi (Sonny Chiba), Jotaro challenges the seemingly invincible sorcerer to protect Ukyo and restore peace to the world.
