An unusual fantasy love story of Wan, a girl who's born with a supernatural ability to stay underwater. While visiting Butterfly Island, Wan discovers her special ability to dive and stay under deep sea. She also meets Tan, a photographer who always helps her when she has some problems, and it finally becomes love. When their love is still growing, Wan realizes that she's not a normal girl. Her body will be transfered into a kind of creature when she gets into the water. Now, it's Tan again who must help Wan finding what's going on with her body without knowing that a mysterious secret awaits him under the sea.

"Ocean Butterfly" has it all! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
In "Ocean Butterfly", an ugly duckling librarian gets dumped by her boyfriend, then goes berserk, lashing out at a man she meets on a bus, then beginning to hear phantom voices, voices she comes to believe are coming from fish and other forms of sealife that are speaking to her. Has she entirely taken leave of her senses? Under the influence of a wise-cracking turtle (really!) the woman decides to head to the sea (driven there by the guy she berated on the bus). At the sea, she is persuaded by the talking turtle that she can breath under water, then is saved from drowning by the same guy. He takes her to Butterfly Island, from which he comes, where the ugly duckling librarian blossoms into a beauty and love grows between the librarian and the man.

The man turns out to be a nature photographer who is seeking to protect Butterfly Island from the bad impulses of some of its residents. They have been helping a filmmaker make a cheesy movie about the local legend that "sea ghosts" live in the water near the island. The island's residents hope that the movie will bring a tourist industry to the island. But something is not quite at the island; people keep turning up dead and "sea ghosts" are blamed for the deaths. And the newly beauteous librarian learns a shocking secret about herself...

In its short 81 minute running length, "Ocean Butterfly" manages to mix comedy, romance, action, horror, and the supernatural and make it all work. If this kind of "anything can happen" storytelling sounds like fun to you, then I urge you to give "Ocean Butterfly" a try. I was thoroughly charmed by this wild genre-mixing movie.
