After bursting on the kung-fu film scene in the internationally revered The Five Venoms, and starring in many "bloody good" movies, this is generally considered the "Venoms'" second-to-last effort... But what a penultimate adventure it is. Their usual hero, Kuo Chue takes on an amazing dual role and the complications and kung-fu which ensue are wonderful to watch. Even judged by the exceptional standards of the "Venom" films, this one stands out.

Worth a look

I thought this movie was entertaining. It has my favourite Venom Sun Chien in a big role for once. It was also great to see Tang Ching, Candy Wen and Liu Hui Ling in roles that do justice to their respective talents. The only 2 negative aspects if I want to be fussy is first the terrible hairstyle of Kuo Chui. It seems to be wrong for the era and clashes with the costumes and hair of the other actors. The movie also has a rather stagey feel with performers walking onto the sets as if we are watching a stage play. Other than that, grab this and be prepared for solid storytelling and fantstic fight choreography. |

"A RARE VENOMS PIECE OF MAGIC"
| This film, along with Sword Stained,Legend of the Fox and House of Traps are the most rare of all of the Venoms films.This movie is also missing Lu Feng, who was dropped to smoothe things out from the last movie filmed "Shaolin Rescuers" between Lu and Kuo.This movie is also the first time that Chu Ker and the amazing Ching Tien Chee make their appearance in a Venoms film.To me the film moves slow but of course the finale more than makes up for it.Although my favorite Chiang Sheng doesnt even hit the screen until the last 15 minutes it is worth the wait.Another tid bit of info is that this movie was filmed in 1980,but actually didnt get a Shaw release until late 1982, well after Br.Archer 4 and House of Traps were out. |
