The collaboration among Leslie Cheung, Danny Chan, and Paul Chung in Salute and Job Hunter (aka On Trial) in the early 1980s earned them the name of "Three Musketeers". Radiating an energy of youth in the two films, the three artists' suicides in later years sound particularly sad to fans. After Job Hunter, Paul Chung became the top program host in TVB; Danny Chan continued to light up Hong Kong's music scene, and Leslie Cheung gradually built up his fame internationally. Cheung received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 1983, when his fame had yet to surpass Danny Chan's. Job Hunter is a must-see for those who wish to revisit the glamour of the "Three Musketeers".

Danny Chan stars as a rich kid who excels in music. Without the support of his father, who thinks his younger brother Paul (Paul Chung) is doing much better, Danny decides to launch his music career alone. On the contrary, Wing (Leslie Cheung) comes from a poor family, but he lies to friends about that. The two boys have been real good friends before Danny discovers Wing's family situation, triggering his inferiority complex... Directed by Clarance Fok, who later made more commercial films such as Shu Qi's Martial Angels and Lau Ching Wan's The HK Triads.

《失業生》和上部電影《喝彩》一樣，仍然是以陳百強為主角，片中的百強實在是在演譯他自己，阿寶的人生經歷，脾氣性格都與實際生活中的他是如此的相似——抑鬱、情緒化、寡言少語、酷愛音樂，不顧家庭反對獨自一人闖蕩演藝界，靠自己的雙手打造出燦爛的前程。片中榮少（張國榮）是個貧窮的、成績很差的學生，卻愛面子一直欺騙他的同學。終於被Danny發現了真相，可是他卻一廂情願的認為Danny只是想侮辱他、嘲笑他，於是他只丟下了句：“除非將來我發達了，否則永不會見你！”便決然地斬斷了這段美好的友誼！然而，他卻誤入歧途，最終葬送了自己年輕的生命。

"Po" (Danny Chan) and "Paul" (Paul Chung) are sibling from a rich family with different personalities. "Po" is a young man of introverted and melancholy, he's so dedicated to music. His younger brother, "Paul" is active, smart with a gifted quick and sharp tongue, who has gained all the love from his parent. Their best friend, "Wing" (Leslie Cheung) comes from a poor family and he's been concealing about his family background from his friends. He often dreams of getting rich in the future. They are about to take the graduation examination shortly. "Po" is planning to study abroad majoring in music but his dad rejected his idea and they are having severe conflict for that. "Po" decided to earn for his own living and tuition fee. On the other hand, "Wing" works in a hotel and there he met Mabel, a gorgeous mistress of a triad leader. He fell for her but getting himself into serious trouble......

Three young men are on the edge of puzzled year and losing the direction of their future, will the way ahead be a broad, bright road or a way full of thistles and thorns? !
