Inspired by the golden hits of late Canto-pop star Danny Chan, Hong Kong musical Once in Lifetime is the rare theater piece that has found massive crossover appeal. Tickets for the musical's first run in April 2007 sold out in only three days, prompting the organizers to schedule a second run before the musical even staged its first run. Popular indie singer-songwriter Chet Lam, who previously starred in the musicals Best Memories in My Life and Superman Forever, leads the all-star cast which includes Ellen of at17, singer-actresses Bondy Chiu and Jo Koo, and award-winning theater performers Joe Leung and Bonnie Lam. The musical follows the romantic encounters and coming-of-age experiences of a group of college students on the verge of graduation.

性格孤僻的浩一(林一峰)於大學內認識弓同校的亮太，兩人發展出一段曖昧情誼。浩一更因此認識亮太四位青梅竹馬的好友——健次(梁祖堯)、宜美(楊詩敏)、由紀(谷祖琳)及俊彥(湯駿業)。

怎料在final year開學的第一天，亮太突然人間蒸發……

《一期一會》由六個關於失去的故事組成，全部都是圍繞浩一、健次、直美、由紀及俊彥在final year內發生的事情，穿插的主要人物還有浩一妹妹加奈(盧凱彤)、股票經紀美雪(趙學而)及亮太姊姊琉子(林小寶)等。
