Touted as the Chinese NANA and Crest of the Royal Family, the Mainland TV drama One Thousand Teardrop is the brainchild of China's top screenwriter Yu Zheng (Rouge Snow) and TVB director Ng Kam Yuen (A Step into the Past). The cast is no less brilliant, with Hong Kong actress Athena Chu, veteran actor Lau Dan and his son Hawick Lau starring opposite Mainland heartthrob William Feng (The Drive of Life), actor He Chengming (Four Women Conflict), and starlet Li Qian (Twin of Brothers).

Chen Xinyi (Athena Chu)'s world collapsed when her father committed suicide, which caused her mother to lose her mind, just as Xinyi's fiance ditched her the night before their wedding. Xinyi's adoptive younger sister Lin Xiaoyou (Li Qian) was an aspiring dancer, but she broke her leg in an accident and could never dance again.
