Owls' Castle (Fukuro no Shiro) (Japan Version - English Subtitles)

YesAsia Editorial Description

Based on the book Fukurou No Shiro by Ryotaro Shiba, Owl's Castle is a historical ninja epic from director Masahiro Shinoda. Years earlier, the famous warlord Nobunaga instigated the killing of everyone in the Iga province in order to prevent a possible ninja uprising. Ten years later, a survivor of the massacre hires the most skilled assassin in Iga, Juzo (Kiichi Nakai), to infiltrate Fushimi Castle and assassinate Nobunaga's successor Toyotomi Hideyoshi! In the process, Juzo must deal with two female ninjas (Mayu Tsuruda and Riona Hazuki), one of whom views Juzo as her intended love. Meanwhile, rival Iga assassin Gohei (Takaya Kamikawa) aims to stop Juzo. His intention is to leave his life as a lowly ninja and become a samurai, and he views Juzo's head as the ticket to his ambitions! Full of political intrigue, beautiful costumes, sumptuous settings, and realistically mounted action sequences, Owl's Castle is an entertaining period action drama with a fictionalized, but nonetheless compelling account of 16th century Japan.
