　　甫自北京護校畢業的雨川，是一個有如陽光般燦爛的美麗姑娘，來到上海與任職出版社編輯的未婚夫蔡曜相聚，由於蔡母堅持有房子，結婚才風光妥當，故雨川只得暫時無名份地進駐蔡家，等待蔡曜升職。

　　然初到上海，吸引雨川的不是笙歌繁華的商埠夜色，卻是蔡曜之弟－老五，老五有著連女人都汗顏的秀美容貌與一雙會刻印、繪畫、種樹的纖長巧手，但他自幼罹患腎衰竭之病，並被醫生弮定活不過三十。

　　老五長期壓抑對人生的熱情，孤獨地謀求個人生存，直至遇上雨川，從她身上看見了生的光芒，但伴隨而來的卻是對自己的無能而矛盾、逃避。

　　雨川對老五，由初相見的好奇，接著發現他日記中的願望，暗自願助其完成，到最後泥足深陷於對老五無望的愛，她一步步踏出少女時代的天真浪漫，面對殘酷的現實與道德禮教。最終在命運的擺佈下奮力一搏，得到的雖依舊是老五的死別，然她卻如彩蝶破繭，飛向老五死後的天空，為他感受新生。

Alec's new role Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Alec use to put on a cheerful smile, but now he have total change his role. He's playing a role of being mysterious and lonely role. In this movies, he is like a person who will only love one person and cherish it. I enjoy watching it and it's a pretty sad story. However I dislike how Alec having feelings for his brother's girlfriend, which should be someone else.
